Una notte che non fa dormire un'ostessa che non vede arrivare all'osteria il suo innamorato, e una domatrice di leoni che maledice che il suo, di innamorato, l'abbia sposata e trascinata in una vita da baraccone...

Cesare Pavese racconta di una notte dolce e amara e di individui malinconici, ma non disperati, spasmodicamente tesi alla ricerca di un briciolo di felicità. La lettura è eseguita dalla profonda ed evocativa voce dell'attore Alberto Rossatti.
