About this listen
These and other memorable townsfolk are ferried around by Barbara, a taxi driver half way through his sex change, and served by Mr Iingleby, who brings a whole new meaning to the term 'small shopkeeper'.
Murderously funny and actuely observed, The League of Gentlemen's highly acclaimed brand of comedy shows human nature at its most extreme, and most hilarious.

So glad this is available digitally
Some of the humour hasn't aged well, but the characters, plots, and dark, bizarre situations are superb.
If you enjoyed the TV series, I'd highly recommend listening to this and going back to where it started!

Genius!
No other words to describe this.
Some parts will be familiar to those who have viewed Series 1 but there are plenty of unheard/unseen characters also.
I’ve listened to this numerous times & it is a delight to devour it.

Wonderful but probably dated
Loved this so much. It's slightly different to the tv series but the performances are just as good and characters just as fabulous, even though you can't see them.

Fans of the TV series will enjoy these.
I’ve seen the 3 LoG TV series, but not heard any of the radio series. This has a lot of familiarity with the first TV series, and contains many of the characters that fans of the TV series will know. These include Dr Chinnery, Pauline, Pop and the Dentons.
Well written and acted.

Funnier than the TV show & that's saying something
I would definitely recommend for any League fans - there's the familar stuff from the TV show (taken to the extreme) plus extra characters, such as Mr Ingleby

“Spent” evolving into “Royston Vasey” is so funny I didn’t even notice that Tubbs and Edward hadn’t moved in yet!
The League Of Gentlemen TV series is the best British comedy show ever…and I was brought up on Monty Python, Viv Stanshall’s “Rawlinson End” and The Young Ones! I didn’t think anything could be funnier, darker or weirder than that lot…until TLOG showed up!
If I was talented enough to write the perfect comedy series for myself, then TLOG would be it.
I missed this early version of “Royston Vasey” when it was originally on Radio as the goings-on in “Spent”, so catching up was priceless! This is unmissable for anyone who loves the TV series.
Don’t think…just BUY!
You’ll thank yourself later.

The League of Genius
Hadn’t listened to the radio series for some time so it was an absolute joy to be reminded of this dark, ingenious creation from Dyson, Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith.
Those familiar with the brilliant TV series that followed it will notice some slight differences, including the town of Spent where the show is set. The local radio presenter (or voiceover not 100% sure) and shopkeeper Mr Ingleby are also characters that never made it to TV.
The characters can be grotesque, incompetent or just downright bizarre and the humour even more so. Yet there are also common themes explored such as anger, love and sadness that permeate the human relationships and elevate the writing even more. Makes a great accompaniment to the TV boxset!

The Very Best
Still stands as one of the funniest Radio Plays ever recorded. A sensational recording and performance.
