About this listen

Paul manages an old-school plastics factory that has pivoted during the pandemic to making face masks and is now booming. Along comes Emily, the wayward daughter of an old friend, whom Paul hires to be his assistant, and she’s a sparkling force determined to prove her worth with the one chance she’s been given.

Imogen, a beautiful former acquaintance of Paul’s, also coincidently appears outside the factory, down on her luck and clearly full of ulterior motive. The masked truths of the women around him soon threaten to turn Paul’s quiet family life upside down.

Another fabulous story by Caroline overington beautifully and sensitively narrated. Can’t wait to listen to the next one.

How can a book where there is so little story arc be so engaging?
I guess it’s nice to like and be sympathetic to all the characters.

Prosaic but engaging

I did enjoy listening to the way the characters established their relationships, how they were introduced and their characteristics were pulled out. The ending surprised me. I hadn’t seen it coming.
Narrator made the story interesting and he was easy to listen to mostly. Not sure about Cody’s voice too much though.
Overall I liked it, but not one of the authors best.

Interesting weaving of characters

This author is always good. I do hate having to write more than that, the 15 words are superfluous.

Excellent

Enjoyed this book. Well read by Luke Arnold and an interesting story. Recommended read. Thankyou.

Good book

I love that this could be a true story. Adapting the production lines to produce What is needed to conquer the global pandemic. Throw into the mix, the emotional stresses after a child is born, and the aftermath of the childhood abuse. Could have been a fly in the wall documentary.

More to the pandemic

Decent enough from the Plus Catalogue - another of CO's lockdown Covid stories. Decent storyline, with some parts going into way too much detail in such a short story.
The ending was strange - despite all the time spent on this family dynamic, there was nothing to suggest the state of mind of this poor character (no spoilers) so the big explanation as to why really didn't sit well.
Not up to CO's usual standard.
Narration was good - though I think even he sounded surprised to be reading the last 30 minutes or so.

Good but a rushed over-explained ending

A good short listen with interesting character development. Nicely read by Luke Arnold who I shall look out for as a narrator in the future.
