About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
'That night, I'd survived my life flashing before me, with my dignity intact.
Yes, this chaotic life has always been a gamble.
...But what a gamble.'
Paul Sinha is an award-winning comedian, a quizzing mastermind and a happily married husband. But it hasn't always been this way.
As a boy, Paul struggled to find his place in a world where he didn't quite fit. Who was he? A smart young man with the world's knowledge at his fingertips? A traditional Bengali son, destined for a career in medicine that he didn't want? A gay man who couldn't quite come out? A man on a self-destruct mission?
Amid life's chaos, it was general knowledge - the security of clear questions with correct, if not always simple, answers - that kept Paul sane, even as he struggled into a new life as a stand-up comedian. And it was an unexpected introduction to a pub quiz team that took things even further, introducing him to a new life, a new identity, and, eventually, new love...
A hilarious and moving coming-of-age memoir of one man's search for meaning, One Sinha Lifetime is an unforgettable story of love, family, and the joy of general knowledge.

Soundwaves- Mr Sinha
I was fortunate enough to see Paul in the comedy tent at Soundwaves festival Seaton Carew . The Kaiser Chiefs we’re headlining and we stood next to Paul & Oliver I spoke with him & Oliver both genuinely nice people prior to Kaiser Chiefs taking the stage (Kaiser Chiefs were excellent) Paul mentioned his book and said you’ll enjoy it but it’s darker in places than you might think . Two days later my wife and I were off to Cape Verde (still there writing this) and I download the audible version of Paul’s book, 7hrs 29 mins of joyful , sad , funny , emotionally stirring reflections and stories. An excellent read or if your a lazy sod like me excellent listen . Thanks Paul for the recommendation I hope you and Oliver got back to Stockton and then onwards safely….. Long winded I know but I’m laid on a sunbed chilling with time on my hands to write this review …. In short get it you’ll love it 😃👍

Highly recommended
Having seen our favourite chaser ply his comedy trade a good few times, I was really looking forward to this book. Being a somewhat lazy person who drifts in and out of reading, I took the ‘audible’ option. What’s not to like? A seven hour Paul Sinha gig for the price of one book.
I was not let down. Paul has an unerring way with words, and has always woven stories with humour and interest. Taken through his massively interesting life with brutal honesty, it felt like you were personally involved. In some ways I was; a minority who to some degree left our ethnic roots; a career in medicine and even a love of Sport ;in particular Liverpool Football Club, I certainly felt a link!
I liked this book so much it almost feels a touch sad to have finished it; it felt that I spent several hours in Paul’s exalted company, and enjoyed every moment.
A great read.. or even listen
Highly recommended.

There is much more to this man then being a chaser!!
Like many people I know the author from the TV the chase and I have always found him very funny particulate and witty without being rude. This book is a real eye-opener, pull takes us through the wonderful characters in his family the fear trepidation as he comes to realise that he is gay and how to navigate this within his own family. I really loved the honesty and vulnerability about his feelings at this time and I really empathised with being different and wanting to fit in and finally finding his true calling, which was quizzing! There are some great laugh eight low moments in this book and I would thoroughly recommend it to anybody who has a passing interest in Paul because of the chase.
Paul reads the book excellently and if I have a get a chance I will be seeing him do stand-up if era comes to my area. The guy is really funny, honest to a fault, and I applaud you, Paul. What an excellent read
