A love of art....

A mutual interest in art draws two shy university students together. Ben admires Vinnie's painting of the university building, so Vinnie invites him to an exhibition of his artwork. From a wealthy family, Ben purchases some of Vinnie's art and arranges for the artist to personally hang the paintings in his apartment.

Starry, starry night....

Ben commissions Vinnie to paint his portrait, in order to spend more time with the artist. On the night of the sitting, Vinnie fingerpaints the starry night on Ben's chest... and they kiss. They begin a relationship beneath the night sky, God's own canvas.

But every relationship has its ups and downs and so it is with theirs. When Ben thinks Vinnie spends too much time with a fellow artist, his jealousy drives a wedge between them and forces Vinnie into the very thing Ben dreads.

Hold tight to your dreams....

Ben and Vinnie will have to walk through fire before they can find one another again. But if they believe, and if they keep their faith in the night sky and each other, just maybe they can make their dreams of love come true.

A sweet story. Great narration. The story was not as erotic as I expected. Would read/listen to more from this author.

I enjoyed this story, but it was really angsty even for me... and I love angst lol. So much miscommunication. I also never understood Vinnie's sudden downshift into what seemed like depression. Ben changed so much for him, and I didn't understand why he'd be unhappy. I just wanted them to freaking TALK to each other! So much bad stuff could have been avoided with simple conversations! Men, I swear! And I'd have to deck my brother, but I did love the friendships--well, some of them... (yes, I'm looking at you, Vinnie, make better choices, man!) But, regardless, it all came together in the end. In fact, it lined up neatly side by side. You'll understand at the end.

Hard-Won Love

The first thing that hit me with this story was the British accent of the narrator. I hadn’t realized it had been so long since I had heard my own native accent spoken on tape. After a while Joel’s voice had me immersed in the story.

After a while I wanted to bang the main character’s heads together. Ben and Vinnie are lovely but they don’t communicate and so they end up arguing, making up, and starting the cycle over, and over.

Vinnies brothers are funny and likable, although I did want to punch Finn a couple of times, until he found his love interest.

The final character I want to mention is James. I have a few friends who would love to teach him a lesson if he were a real person. Men like that only belong in one place—jail. He pounces on the cracks in Vinnie and
Ben’s relationship, and takes advantage of Vinnie’s great nature.

My favorite bit had to be the painting. All through the book is the painting of the night sky, but the best two (to me) are: the one Vinnie does on Ben’s skin (on the book cover) and the one they do together at the end. They are both beautifully described and so romantic.

Vinne and Ben have there young romance story. I enjoyed this audiobook and will listen to it again. If you are looking for a fast romance this is not that kind of book. Ben suffers from being jealous this causes huge problems in the relationship. But it all works out in the end. I would suggest this book.

Ben loves art, Vinnie loves art.they meet at university so begins their journey, Ben comes from a wealthy family. So able to buy some of Vinnie's art . Then Ben commission Vinnie to paint his portrait, so they can spend more time together.
Then things start to go wrong between them, Ben knows in the end it is his fault. They have to work hard for their relationship. It's really great listen to see what happens.
Once again Joel Leslie was outstanding got into the characters, with a voice like honey smoothing over you, Lily G Brunt is a star her books are so very written.

I love this well written and sweet story. Ben and Vinnie meet at university. Both are lovely charakters, but they don’t communicate. I really wanted them to talk to each other!
The ending is very satisfying. Joel Leslie did a great job and he brings Ben and Vinnie and the story to life.

This is not my usual type of book, I'm not fond of long separations and misunderstandings. I did think both main characters would have benefited from a serious intervention. Vinnie most of all!
The writing is good, the back story well fleshed out. The secondary characters were delightful, just how a good family should be. The ending is very satisfying, I do love a HEA.
Joel Leslie is one of my favourite narrators and he brings these characters and the story to life.

When Ben first sees Vinnie, I was smiling listening to this part.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - wasn't able to listen in one sitting, but once near the end I was literally growling at people to leave me alone!

Any additional comments?

I have listened to quite a few audio books now, but this one with both the narrator and the storyline, I was pulled me in straight away. This is also an audio book that I will listen to again and again.

What a superb listen this was! Interesting characters and storyline. You will fall in love with Ben.
This will be a repeat listen for me. Well rounded and with a nice HEA. Would love to have a follow up and explore the other brothers of Vinny. Excellent.
