About this listen

Hi, I'm Philomena Wonderpen. My best friend, George, sometimes calls me Philomena Daydreamer. I looove daydreams. Imagine if you could draw your dreams with a magic pen. What would you draw? A beautiful black horse? A magic carpet? Or even better, would you make yourself the teacher? Then you could boss the whole class! If only daydreams could come true.©2006 Ian Bone (P)2006 Bolinda Publishing Chapter Books & Readers Literature & Fiction Witty

Editor reviews

It's Philomena's eighth birthday, and she's a little bit disappointed with her gift, until she realizes it's a magic pen that allows her daydreams - and she has a lot of them! - to become real. She may even be able to use it to take over her entire class!

Ian Bone's story is delightfully imaginative, with an irresistible protagonist, and her charm is made apparent by Melissa Chambers, who performs with a bounding whimsy. It's a top-notch recording all the way through, replete with fun sound effects and a bouncy musical soundtrack, providing all-around entertainment for young children.

Critic reviews

"An excellent bridge for readers moving on from beginner books ... witty and fast-moving." (Magpies Magazine)
