About this listen
Kenny: He was born into the struggle, a place where love was sometimes considered a luxury and most certainly couldn't be taken for granted. Being the sole provider of his household before he was old enough to get a job, it was no surprise that he maintained that position when super stardom landed at his door.
Tashena: She was born into the struggle, a place where abandonment was just one of the many things that could fall into your path. She learned early on that it was her responsibility to protect herself, and sometimes the ones she loved. In her eyes, pain was not a thing to be shared. It was better managed alone. And the weight of it, though crippling, was hers to carry and no one else's.
They were born into the struggle, separated by a few blocks of concrete and heavy doses of pain, somehow finding their way back to each other after life and its perils pushed them apart. The truth needed to be told before either of their hearts could mend. Healing was needed on both ends before reception was an option. Trust needed to be established before love was a possibility. Such heavy burdens to bare for souls that were already carrying too much.
Plus, a story of love...through the struggle.

Cute and spice
This mainly African American story is full of drama, angst, musicians and spice. It deals a many heavy subjects including addiction, so check trigger warnings before you dive in.
Narration was excellent.
Included on KU and audible plus catalogue till October 2024

Ok story
The smutty scenes were steamy and well written but the overall story was somewhat underwhelming.

Good representation of rags to riches
The female voice ruined this audio book with the exaggerated drawl.
Male voice read well.
Overall an okay story.
Wish I’d listened to it before “The Fold” and hope the author is planning a sequel to bring everyone together

READ *BEFORE* 'FOLD' FAMILY SERIES!
First of all, this book sits BEFORE the books in the 'Fold' family series. 'Fold' book 2 has a spoiler for what happens in this book, so I already knew how this story ended, which kinda spoiled it, however I still enjoyed finding out the backstory of the characters.
This book has ALL the feels:
Trauma
Heartbreak
Joy
Devotion
Humour...
I was rooting for the two main characters. I liked how the author realistically included characters that were NOT redeemable. Not everyone is!
Some heavy topics covered, so not a lighthearted book, but enjoyable all the same.

Good story…but someone else needs to read it
I loved the story, Plus is a lovable character and the support unit around him is amazing. I just couldn’t connect with Tashena because the woman reading isn’t good. Her cadences are off which can at times make the writing not make sense. The voices she uses for Plus and other characters are really boring and droning and she just didn’t get Tashena’s sassy character down. Really disappointed, they should’ve stuck with Wesleigh Siobhan.
The story would’ve got a 5 if not for that.
