About this listen
Multi-award winning spirituality writer Philip Yancey is loved throughout the world for his honest, insightful and inspirational writing. Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? carries all the hallmarks of classic Yancey, a journalist by training.
His quest to unravel the mysteries of prayer is like the journal of a fellow traveller: questioning, challenging, lamenting the unexplainable and rejoicing in the discovery of awesome insights. His journey is beautifully illustrated with moving true stories drawn from around the world.
Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference? tackles the following questions: What is prayer? What difference does it make? Why and how should we pray? What about unanswered prayer? How should we understand prayer for physical healing?
Focusing on such a universal theme, this is potentially Yancey's biggest work yet. To date, his books have sold over 14 million copies and have been translated into 25 languages.

A thought provoking (and sometimes challenging) rant
This book gives a deep dive into the surface of prayer from a range of different philosophical and basically theological perspectives. The mix of challenging and reassuring notions is a welcome inside into the relationship between God and us in our daily lives. Although this book is not particularly technical, the simplicity of the writing is good for Christians with little prior knowledge of Theology. At some points the content can seem a bit general, boastful, and just too long, but overall it is a good easy listen on the topic of Prayer. I would recommend this title to anyone who, like myself, is fairly new to the topic outside of Bible and Church related books.

Honest and thought provoking.
The first book I have listened to all the way through as an audiobook. Larry Black brings the text to life. Yancey doesn't dodge the issues and gives much food for thought and discussion. I feel I have a slightly better handle on a mysterious activity...prayer.

A discussion on prayer
As always Yancey approaches his subject as a faithful sceptic. I found this book a little too generic.
Technically the recording level was way too low. I had to play it full volume wth no other background noise.
