Mr. Hatch ärgert sich gewaltig über den Professor, betrinkt sich und wird für die Fremdenlegion angeworben. Ehe er sich's versieht, muss er durch die Sahara zum Fort Bou-Yallah, das von wilden Beduinen belagert wird. Van Dusen macht sich auf, ihn zu retten. Er verkleidet sich als Marabout, isst Hammelaugen und erfindet, ganz nebenbei, den Helikopter. Mit diesem taucht er über dem Fort auf, verscheucht die Beduinen und rettet Hatch mittels einer heruntergelassenen Seils.
