About this listen

They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides: a brilliant engineer, an infamous lawyer, and a controversial politician. Three strangers with nothing in common - and no obvious reasons for killing themselves. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the deaths suspicious. And her instincts paid off when autopsies revealed small burns on the brains of the victims. Was it a genetic abnormality or a high-tech method of murder?

Eve's investigation turned to the provocative world of virtual reality games - where the same techniques used to create joy and desire could also prompt the mind to become the weapon of its own destruction.

Yet another brilliant slightly futuristic murder, mystery with a hefty dose of romance.
I love the depths and complexities that the author has created in these characters. Eve, Rourk, peabody Fenie and Somerset are such wonderful complex people who lead you through this unique story.
Highly recommended.
Great narration.

Another good novel by JD Robb in the In Death Series. The plot is well developed and I really liked the array of colourful characters in addition to the principal ones, who include Lieutenant Eve Dallas, her husband Roarke, Officer Peabody, Captain Feeney and Commander Whitney.
Be sure to begin the series with book 1 to be properly introduced to everyone.

Beautifully narrated. Another win for the In Death series

If you have 'read' the previous book in the series this is on parr. If not it might be worth checking out the earlier ones as the main characters - Lt. Eve Dallas, Roarke and Peabody - story lines continue and refer back. Otherwise the story is a stand alone with twists and turns enough to keep you interested to the end.

Wonderful

Eve finds herself in the middle of the strangest cases that have no connection, yet must be connected. There are multiple unsavoury manipulators, all of whom are dangerous and need locking up for public safety, but only one is a killer....it is a race against time to find the killer before they themselves become victims.
I did guess very early on who the killer is in this one, there are various other suspects but this one just jumped out at me....a little too smooth and creepy! Eve and Roarke are forever learning about themselves and each other, but here they are thrown into a "flashback" of their former lives, of the horrors they escaped. It may have broken weaker couples but thankfully it seems to bring Eve and Roarke closer, they have a unique bond and unfortunately a unique understanding of where the other came from and this is what keeps them strong but it is heartbreaking to experience with them.
I listened to this on Audible.

Targeted and.....haunting
