Perfect just perfect

I have had my eyes open to the horror of people returning home from conflict and it was good to listen to this story. We shouldn't pretend bad things don't happen and should never ignore those that have been damaged and need support to recover. The story is so heart warming and a amusing love story.

An improvement on some books in this series

The story line was good: well thought out, generally realistic, some laughs, some tears. The characters, apart from the baddies, were all nice. The pacing was even (sometimes this author rushes the ending after dawdling through most of the book). The romance was sweet but she should be advised to omit the sex scenes, they really are unnecessary. Even the narrator seems to have improved her delivery. However, I question the timing of events: 3 marriage dates in 8 months, really!

Engaging and easygoing

easy to listen to, decent enough story. But marks off for the repeated use of the word "snowflakes" when referring to kids being tough or not. I just found that irritating and tasteless and like there was some kind of clumsy statement being made.

Emily March is a lovely engaging addition to the membership catalogue

This is my third Emily March book from the titles “included” in the membership section. An author I’m finding easy, absorbing and engaging.

The storylines trip along with central characters happily destined for a romantic union always have an interesting back-story.
One person in the, ‘destined-be-happily-together-by-the-novel’s-end,’ have interesting, intense emotional backstory’s that requires some form of redemptive emotional peace-making.

This formula has proved effective for an easy listen with heart and a degree of emotional depth.

I was a little concerned by one reviewer who wrote of being appalled by the harrowing nature of what one of the central character’s had been through.
As someone who, due to personal circumstances, can’t engage with graphically detailed and/or prolonged suffering and pain, I was wary of how ‘nasty’ the details of the debilitating experience undergone by one protagonist undergoes would be.
Obviously all interpretations are subjective but as someone sensitive to detailed scenes of immense cruelty, abuse, torture etcetera, I did not find the way in which, an inarguably horrifying event, was revealed gratuitous. It wasn’t graphic and, a brief but an all-important scene necessary to make the whole narrative a story that keeps one listening and caring.

Apart from a chapter and a few peppered lines from a character with the most execrable, mangled attempt at an accent (Australian) which jarred because, in over 500 audiobooks I’ve never heard a worse accent, this was well-narrated. All in all satisfying and enjoyable.

I possibly wouldn’t spend an entire credit on the many titles by Emily March but I would unhesitatingly opt to buy her works in any sale, and hope more may be added to the membership catalogue.

I’ve loved all the other books

Unfortunately this book wasn’t as enjoyable.
The story felt forced. Other books linked in but they it didn’t feel like they naturally flowed with this story. I Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Traumatic story, not for the sensitive

Some very harrowing descriptions of scenes that could cause nightmares, despite the predictable HEA ending. Be warned

A really dull, lifeless reader...

...is making me consider giving up on this one, but it goes against the grain. I think I'll persevere for now...
