About this listen
The brooding hero, gypsy Jake Lovell, under whose magic hands the most difficult horse or woman becomes biddable, is driven to the top by his loathing of the darling of the show ring, Rupert Campbell-Black.
Having filched each other’s horses, and fought and fornicated their way around the capitals of Europe, the feud between the two men finally erupts with devastating consequences at the Los Angeles Olympics.

Randy Riders
Riders gearing up for the Olympics have numerous romantic, well, more lusty, encounters as everyone finds it hard to stay faithful!

Surprisingly brilliant
I remember seeing this book on shelves in the 1980s and the cover intrigued me but I expected it to be mediocre pulp. But how wrong was I. Brilliantly written, exciting, romantic, funny. Not a dull passage. Just a beautiful story.

Terrible American accent but otherwise great!
Brilliant story and on the whole good narration except for some truly awful American accents!

They really were rivals...
Although the plot seemed quite dated, overall the book was good. I felt the narrator did well and was easy to listen to. Very enjoyable.

Nostalgic, jodhpur busting stuff
Really fun revisiting this from years ago ! Frivolous, witty stuff that will keep you engaged even if you’re not especially horsey .

Didn’t disappoint
Great narration, really captures each character
Kept me entertained from start to finish, shame there wasn’t a sequel with Rupert and Jake, I finished definitely wanting more
