About this listen

'Every time I have ridden 66, within 10 miles of setting off, I never want that ride to end. I think it's because Route 66 encapsulates struggle, and, ultimately, triumphing over unimaginably difficult conditions. I think everyone can connect with that.'

RIDING ROUTE 66 follows Henry Cole as he travels along Route 66, on a journey of self-discovery.
Route 66, or the 'Mother Road', is one of the most famous roads in the USA. Crossing the width of the country, it is an immensely challenging road to travel. Henry has ridden it three times. This book is about the freedom that only the road and a motorcycle can give you, and the importance of embracing the highs and lows of life equally.

Henry is one of the most well-known figures in motorcycling, having presented over twenty series of many TV shows as well as being the founder of bespoke motorcycle manufacturer Gladstone Motorcycles.©2023 Henry Cole (P)2023 Quercus Editions Limited

I suppose the clue was 'Finding myself' in the title. I was expecting some kind of fairly well detailed travelogue describing the journey on route 66 but it turned into a sort of self help guide for the middle aged man facing his mid-life crisis. Each chapter started with a section of journey but quickly meandered off into well meaning advisory introspection. If you're going to ride the 66 there are useful tips and advice but the book is aimed more at the inner journey rather than the outer.

Great I’ve wanted to do route66 and all questions I had in my head were answered. As to say I want to do it . I enjoyed that it’s the celebrity that talks in theses books it’s a very good listen , and just listen to twice as my job talks me all over the country , just incase I’ve missed something while consenting. I’ve now listened to three of Henry’s books and throughly recommended them

A great look at Route 66 by someone who has ridden and explored it, rather than someone who has been there.
Highly recommended.

A fascinating read
