About this listen
Yes, I’m a single dad who needs a nanny for the summer.
But hiring the stranded runaway bride who shows up on my doorstep in a wedding gown with no references, no skills, and no experience?
No one is that desperate.
Except within 24 hours, down-on-her-luck Veronica Sutton manages to charm my kids, my family, and half the population of Cherry Tree Harbor into believing she’s perfect for the job.
And for me.
It’s not that I can’t see the appeal–those baby blue eyes? The endless legs? That mouth made for trouble? But I’ve got enough on my plate, raising two kids on my own and keeping the family business alive. I don’t have the time or the inclination to fall for an outspoken city girl.
So I should have kept my hands to myself.
Holding her in my arms was a big mistake. Even worse? Spending the night together. She ignites a possessive fire in me that I’m finding hard to snuff out.
But the most unforgivable? Growing attached to the sound of her laugh, the scent of her skin, and the way her body wraps around mine in the dark.
At the end of the summer, she’ll be gone.
And if I’m not careful, she might run away with my heart.

Beautiful, Exotic, Calming and yet 🔥
One of the best stories and audiobooks of 2023. Thank you Melanie Harlow, what a book. God, what emotions and love and humor. Of course this story is brought to life by the magnificent narrators. This was an experience. You will not regret buying this audiobook

so sweet
I know I'll have a good laugh when I listen to a good grumpy-sunshine story. and this one didn't disappoint, she was a bucket full of sunshine, runaway bride, and he a uptight grumpy single dad. The way she ditched the good-for-nothing groom was fantastic. In fact the entire beginning was something else.
The story has tension, hilarity and, eventually spice too (a tiny bit of drama as well).
amazingly good narration. 100% recommend.

A very sweet and sexy romance!
Really enjoyed this - an easy listen, good narration overall (preferred the male narrator) and a sprinkling of sexy times! Downloaded the second book in the series immediately after finishing, which says a lot. If you want a straightforward, romantic listen with very likeable characters, then this is for you!

Good but she has written better...
Veronica finds out that the man she is about to walk down the aisle to is a cheating douche canoe so being an ex Rockette she kicks him in the face and pulls a Julia Roberts in the shape of Runaway bride leaving said douche canoe at the alter. She finds herself in a local small diner spilling her current woes to the friendly and welcoming townsfolk, they put her in touch with Mable our MC Austins sister as she is looking for a nanny for Austins twin 7 year olds for the summer. Veronica rocks up to the interview still in her wedding dress, Austin is instantly infatuated with her and does his best to shut down the job opportunity as he isn't one for change and the story goes from there.
I liked Veronica & Austin as characters and the side characters were all really fun too, this had the typical small town vibes I enjoy in a Melanie Harlow book, the banter and humour was good and the spice was plentiful and detailed when it gets to it. Unfortunately this was a bit too insta lust/lovey for me, other than Veronica & Austin having banging chemistry (literally) there wasn't much in the way of a deep or meaningful connection happening, I didn't understand WHY they felt the way they did about each other and I would have loved more scenes of Veronica bonding with the twins, Austin & his family in more meaningful ways. This was a fun read that made me chuckle in places and if you're looking for a lighthearted read with good spice this should tick those boxes. 🌶🌶

Just ok
Everything was just ok. Storyline, characters and voice actors. I really wish more dual POV books were recorded in duet the fake feminine/masculine voices are awful. So many side characters so I’m assuming that this will become a series.
