As a young lad of only 10 years old, Jim Whitelaw is taken sailing with a friend of the family. Jim is totally enthralled, and from that day forward, Jim decides that one day he will buy his own yacht. It is 40 years later before Jim eventually keeps his promise to himself, and this book reflects the story and steep learning curve during Jim's 40-year journey. Jim buys his first boat without too much knowledge, and makes many mistakes and gets into quite a few scrapes. This book follows Jim's dream and nightmares.

An inspiring tale of rediscovering and achieving a goal from late childhood. Shown the virtue of never letting the completion of attanin the goal in sight no matter how long it takes.

The narration was perfect. I could easily listen to it all day. The descriptions of the coastlines painted pictures in my mind.

I look forward to listening to this again once I get to relax on a nice warm beach with the smell of the sea and sound of the waves in the background.

I have followed the author as I can't wait for tales of further adventures... hope more books are out soon.

I am not sure why I enjoyed this book so much - maybe because there are lots of reasons but I just couldn't stop listening and I couldn't believe it was finished. It was like losing a friend. I was transported into another world and taken on a journey - I felt like I was on the boat. I sat and imagined all the coasts and coastal town, and sometimes tried to imagine the swell of the sea. The narrator was perfect. Somehow my mind was given the space to just think and relax and enjoy the story. This is an unusual book in some ways but I am grateful to have discovered it. Now keenly awaiting the one about fisherman cottages!

I really enjoyed listening to this book , especially as my family has had boats in the past , although we don't have any now it was nice to listen to this book and even better as I could recall some of the places I had also been to. Well written and well narrated.

An inspirational story, truly recommended!

The narrator and his accent will put you right in the middle of the atmosphere and serenity of the scenery. Definitely a book not to be missed!

Excellent execution and content of the book also, I hope the author surprises us with a follow up soon.

I enjoyed to listen to his personal story and how determined he was to purchase the new boat. You get an insight on what to consider. This teaches you how to maintain it all year around. It is such a rewarding activity as you can balance work-life. As you will find out your brain is at rest but still you need to stay creative as you never know what happens along a trip.

Achieving life long goals and dreams is a process for most people and the story of Jim depicts this so eloquently. A Greek poet wrote many years ago that it's not the end goal which is important but the journey and what we learn from it and Sail with Jim: The Dream reminded me of that. I loved the narration and I can't wait for the next story from James Whitelaw. Definitely recommend

I’ve started listening to this story during my comute, and my journey to work became so much more pleasant. This is an inspirational story about courage to follow your dreams, adventure and overcoming obstacles. Really enjoyed it!

This is a book that will not just be of interest to the sailing community. It tells the story of one man who's been bitten by the boat and yachting bug.

A glimpse into Jim Whitelaw's life is reflected in this book. His dreams, aspirations, disappointments and achievements are all laid out for all to see. This is a wonderful story that has the potential to connect with the reader through its honesty and sincerity as well as its humour. His Scottish accent just adds to needing to hear more.

Sail with Jim was totally enjoyable from beginning to end. With respect to the author, this book makes me believe in myself more than ever before because it teaches that anything can happen when you set your mind on something- no matter how big or small your dream it may be! This is a must read for everyone.
