Stoicism and love

A time when people were stoic in the face of tragedy and hardship; when honour and duty meant something.
The characters generally are privileged, monied and cushioned from life's vagaries but, they too, could not avoid the horror and tragedy of the Great War.
Lovely, heartwarming story very well narrated.
