About this listen
Opening the Cozy Corgi in Estes Park is a dream come true: small-town charm, fresh-baked bread, hours by the fire reading mysteries, and...murder.
For Winifred Page and her devoted corgi, Watson, the puzzle pieces of life are falling into place as they settle into their home in the Colorado mountains. Surrounded by family and friends, Fred begins to relax into the charm and beauty of being the owner of a bookshop and bakery.
The buzz of possible romance - though Fred wasn't looking for a relationship - has quieted as one of her suitors is no longer a viable option while the other has moved into the friend zone. But all thoughts of romance, wanted or not, fly out the window when Fred finds a dead body in the Cozy Corgi bakery...again.
Things get stickier when Fred's main suspect turns out to be a family member of one of the local police officers - the one who already despises Fred and her little dog. Determined not to let past grievances cloud her judgment, Fred tips her detective hat and pokes deeper into the murder investigation. But in a mystery that becomes smoke and mirrors, nothing is as it seems.
The revelations Fred unveils threaten not only her picture-perfect world but her very life....

Nothing sour about this book
I enjoyed this book. I like the quirky characters but must admit the grumpy corgi is the star of the show. Well of course he is, the shop the main character owns is named after him and is the kind of places every book lover and animal lover wishes they could visit. The small town charm is another attraction, if only there wasn't so many murderers. This is book four in the series and we learn a lot more about Winifred's (Fred) best friend Katie's past and why she doesn't talk about it, don't worry if this is your first adventure into the series because they are written as standalone mysteries, although you do get to know the characters better if you have started from the start. I had picked up on the big clue who the killer was (a tad bit obvious) and the target but had no clue why until the big secret was relieved. It's a fun cute mystery with an adorable dog and I am off to start the next book.
Winifred's dream of owning her own book shop is finally coming true, despite people wanting to buy her out, but that dream turns into a nightmare when she walks into the shop to find a dead body. Relief that it is not her best friend quickly dies when the killer tries again. Did the killer kill the wrong person? And if so who is wearing the target on there back? Fred for questioning suspects over the death of her best friend that has a secret that she won't tell? Can Fred and her grumpy k9 sidekick Watson find the killer first?
I like the narrator. I have heard a lot of books by this narrator and I would say she was the reason I gave this series ago, because I know how good she is, but to be fair I probably would have tried it anyway because of the corgi on the cover. You have to love mysteries containing cute pets

crud
I thought this would be an easy to listen to story while I worked, instead I found the narration irritating and the story predicable.
