Summary

He should’ve never left his house. He should’ve stayed at home. He has a legitimate excuse - he’s running a fever and he’s fairly sure he’s developing pneumonia. He should have called in sick...but he doesn’t.

He goes to work, because his team is relying on him.

First, he has to sign about 8000 calendars - all from women who purchased said calendars to benefit the Fallen Officer fundraiser. And when he’s done with that, he has to endure a television interview along with the rest of the SWAT team seeing as they made national news with their "Hot SWAT" calendar that’s sold a million copies to women all over the world.

Needless to say, when Samuel Adams walks into the pharmacy hours later, he only has one thing on his mind. Ibuprofen.

Sadly, he never gets to the Ibuprofen. Mostly because before he gets there, he finds a junkie waving a gun around threatening to kill anybody that moves.

He’s running a fever. That has to be the reason that the girl in the corner begins cursing up a storm and drawing the junkie’s attention. Has to be.

Stop it, stop it, stop it!

She tells herself to take a deep breath. Tells herself that she needs to calm down. Tells herself that if she doesn’t get her act under control, things are going to get ugly.

And, of course, that’s when the curse words start flying.

The more nervous she gets, the worse her Tourette’s becomes. Which is, of course, why she stands up and gives the man a perfect target.

Thank God that the coughing giant in the corner makes the same move and saves her life.

And how does she repay him? By calling him every awful word in the dictionary.

Thank you, Tourette’s.

So much packed in so little time

I admit, I didn’t read about the book beforehand, so based on the title, cover and genre, I was expecting some action packed cop romance, or even a romantic suspense. But if there’s some of those here, there’s also much much more.

There’s a lot of humour. The main female character, due to her disorder and her choice of career–writing smutty MC romance, how about that–is quicky and fun, and you laugh WITH her, not ABOUT her. She’s surrounded by other funny characters, like her friend and her sister.

You’ll also find passion and love. Though it was instalove/instalust, I enjoyed Sammy and Hastings’s relationship. I found a lot of acceptance on his side, and a real desire to open up on her side. Once the pregnancy is revealed, you know that they’ll do anything to make it work.

The action comes right at the beginning, and you don’t find much more in the rest of the book. There’s still some cop action further in with the introduction of Patman. You enter the life of the SWAT team for some time, their interactions with each other and the support they offer to their own. It was a sweet aspect.

And then there’s the drama. I won’t give any spoilers, but wow, it broke my heart. I just feel it deserved more pages because it’s HUUUUUGE and it felt a bit rushed, but it’s definitely on the heavy side. Keep a box of tissue nearby.

The narraction was excellent. I especially loved the way the female narrator interprets Hastings’s condition.

All in all, so much packed in so little time, you won’t get bored!

I’m so bad at writing reviews

Enjoyed the story line and narration was excellent as usual with the 2 narrators , loved the twist at the end would have liked a longer more in-depth epilogue maybe a wedding but I loved it x

I love this series so much

I'm pretty sure I say this every time I read a book in this series, but this one was my favourite. It had WAY more angst than the other books though and I nearly teared up. More than once. But I listened to this in one sitting and that was mostly to do with Joe Arden and CJ Bloom bringing Sammy and Hastings to life. I laughed almost as much as I felt my heart break. But I loved the interaction not only between Sammy and Hasty, but all the Swat crew and their families.

Book boyfriend inspiration

I’ve never heard of this author before but I’m so glad I listened to this book. It has everything, laughter, tears and makes you do a fist pump when Hastings uses her foot (you’ll know when you get there)
Hastings may have Tourette’s but this is a book about a woman who thought she wasn’t worthy of love finding a man who can she her for what she is. A funny driven writer with an appreciation of the hot, motorcycle riding cops who live all around her. I’ve listened to it twice and the sad bits made me cry both times. That shows you just how good this story is

Wow didn't see that coming.

This books was good. I enjoyed the storyline. It took you on a journey. Finding loving in a robbery? I loved Hastings blurting out random sayings when faces with different situations. PEW PEW PEW PEW. But it is also heartbreaking when losing your.....
We have a mean and greedy cop with no good intenions who is out to get her family.

Joe Arden and CJ Bloom were amazing on this narration. Then again Joe could read a phone book and I'd still listen.
Definately a must listen..
