About this listen
Six thousand years ago, my ancestor fled the world that we had called home for millions of years because of a foolish war based solely on religious ideology, which should have long since faded into our past.
We thought we had found peace among the stars, and instead, we found only enemies. Now war rages in the Orion arm of the galaxy, and while we have our back turned, an ancient and evil enemy has returned.

Decent concept and a solid baseline for a series
Picked this audiobook up when the author suggested it in the expeditionary force group page and told the author I will keep an open mind. As even he is aware of the poor narrative performance and poor narrative performance is fair criticism in my opinion, more on that later.
So without further ado.
First Sci-Fi book or audiobook rather, that I've come across that attempts to answer existential questions and ramifications of Aliens being creators of humanity and how things may transpire. Also somewhat depicts what could happen if morality and ethics no longer formed guiding principles to the rule of law and interpretation of religious texts.
All encompassed within a story that appears to have been written in mini stories.
It does leave a few unanswered questions which maybe addressed in future books but who knows - Such as how did a carrier get flunked and attacked from behind if they are technologically superior than their foe?
Never the less, Still a decent concept and solid baseline for a wide spanning series of books.
Story: 4/5
Now to the bad points of this audiobook, primarily the quality of the narration. The narrator is so so, not suited to voicing characters but non fiction books. As all the characters sound flat and emotionless due to the monotone of his voice.
Secondly, either he used a very crappy mic or amplified the vocals after recording as you can clearly hear the hissing everytime he spoke and it is migraine inducing thus making the whole experience extremely unenjoyable. It needs a complete re-do and either the narrator needs to invest in better equipment or speak louder as amplifying vocals to the extent the static hissing can be heard is an absolute no go.
Narrative performance 2/5:
So minus 1 star for character portrayal. Another for the crappy audio and the last deduction complete lack of tonal variation between characters as they all sound the same.
Plus 1 star for the lack of constant deep breaths taken, shows time spent to digitally edit the recording. The other for at least making the characters be somewhat not completely lifeless.
Overall 4 stars (average of 3 between the story and narration + 1 star for solid writing).
