About this listen

LA gets a little hotter when there's blood on the streets....

This special edition of Shifter Legacies combines books one and two, and contains a long journey of dark paranormal urban fantasy.

Way of the Wolf: Dr. David Lephmann lived a normal existence until he was attacked by a shifter. Thrust into a world of violence and mistrust, he must battle for a place among his new people.

Only strange new alliances can keep him alive. A powerful master vampire may help him take his revenge on the shifter who destroyed his life. There's only one distraction from his mission: an intriguing shifter woman who opens up his world to werewolf romance.

With no way back to his old life, David has no choice but to bend to the rules of his new people. Can he survive the challenge?

Wolf's Revenge: Los Angeles - a city of vampires and shifters where violence simmers just below the surface. LAPD Lieutenant Christine Humber has worked for years in the city's most violent district, nicknamed Monster Central. When Chris examines the murder scene of a werewolf, a particularly hard-to-kill shifter, she doesn't find a shred of evidence. A serial killer was just what the city needed to make tensions start to bubble over.

Threatened by the chance of a new urban revolt, the FBI steps in and tries to take the case. Chris reluctantly teams with the overly slim and beautiful Agent Flint to maintain the fragile peace. As the shifter body count grows, Chris and Flint must find answers before war and death spill out onto the streets.

If you like shifters or the work of Charlaine Harris and Jim Butcher, you'll love these tantalizingly action-packed books.

I really liked it

Would you consider the audio edition of Shifter Legacies Special Edition: Books 1-2 to be better than the print version?

Yes. I love audio books when I'm travelling and this one kept me thoroughly entertained.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the shifting view points all building to the ending. I also liked the pace and the fact that the politics of different species ((humans, vampires and werewolves) were interwoven to make a compelling read.

What does Mikael Naramore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Excellent narration. Good pace and an interesting voice. Not just monotone like you sometimes gets. His narration helps to draw you in and keep the pace flowing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely. In fact I found myself listening for longer than I intended and when I should have been doing other things. It's obviously too long for one sitting but you will enjoy it enough that you listen for longer than you think.

Any additional comments?

I loved how the story jumped into things. No long preamble just straight at it. I liked the view points and the plot is excellent. I’m trying not to write about the plot as I don’t want to spoil it. It looks at the politics of our world but turned on its head to include vampires and shifters/werewolves as if they are a normal part of our world with their own issues and alliances. The books draw you in and then gives you enough twists and turns to keep you happy until the grand finale.

The narrator was excellent. Very east to listen to with a laid back narration but also interesting and entertaining enough to keep me listening.

Great and Thrilling ride and a Bargain

Another excellent book from Mark E Cooper

Set in amodern LA which is part of a massive republic where the fantasy is part of everyday.
I love how the world looks when you have the Monsters part of everyday life.
The books treat specism almost like the days of Racism in USA during the 60s. Only the eleves the dragons are apart as they are the strongest mainly as they have the magic to fix an entire ozone layer only if everyone moves to green alternative fuels, and down the bottom are the vampires and the shifters struggling for acceptance in the modern world.
The characters are realistic and enthralling showing a good backgroubd which easily draws you into their lives.
The 2 book special is a steal for the money and will be listened to quite a few times in the near future.
The narrator brings the books richly to the forefront where you can believe that you do live in such a a world.

2 good books for the price of 1

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would - its actually 2 audio books Book 1, Way of the Wolf, which is a complicated story told from several viewpoints. It takes a little while to get to grips with it but well worth sticking with as the plot converges and has a lot of action - you really care what happens to most of the characters.Book 2 Wolf's Revenge is set a few years later and follows just one of the characters - Detective Chris Humber - who was one of my least favourite characters from the first book. Its a good story though I preferred book 1, and I was actually more interested in the parts of the story which also involved David and Stephen again, and wished we had found out more about some of the other characters from plot 1. its a decent follow up though and has some good action in it.

What did you like best about this story?

Many good bits especially in book 1 but difficult to say to much without giving spoilers I really liked the way Davids storyline developed.

Have you listened to any of Mikael Naramore’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No Not yet but I will as I will be listening to more Mark E Cooper books and Mikael Naramore narrates most of themHe is a great narrator, tells the story really well and is good at differentiating between the characters. Definitely one of the better narrators I have heard on Audible

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I might have wanted to but its just too long I didnt want to put it down though once I got into it

Any additional comments?

See individual reviews of the 2 books - this is a combination but you do get 2 books for one credit so no point actually buying the books seperately

Enjoyable books.

A little slow to begin with but the story soon gathered momentum until it was difficult to leave alone.

Disjointed

This story was all over the place. Prologue seemingly has nothing to do with part 1, the doctor being bitten. Then part 2 is completely different again, some kind of cop and murder mystery. It made it difficult to follow, and I lost interest, it's impossible to see where it all fits together. Feels like the whole story jumps into the middle of something and you're missing all the bits that make it fit together. It actually feels like 2 different books, which it is although this is happening within book 1.
