About this listen

Run.

When the body of seventeen-year-old student Melanie Pirt is found, DS Gabe Martin is more than ready to take the lead on her first murder case.

Determined to prove herself to the cold and mysterious DI Juliet Stern, Gabe can’t afford any distractions – especially not ones that wake her in the night, reminding her of a past she’d rather forget.

Because while Gabe and Juliet have few leads, there are plenty of suspects. And every one of them is lying...

The first in a new detective series featuring an unforgettable female detective partnership, Shot in the Dark is perfect for fans of Cara Hunter and Gytha Lodge.

An avid reader, Anna Britton began writing around ten years ago and hasn’t stopped since. Anna works as a freelance editor and loves helping out other authors.

Compelling

A slow burn that boils up to a great climax. Kept me on the edge right till the end.

On the edge of my seat

A twisty turny plot that keeps you guessing until the end. I loved the narrator and they was she was so real. I could picture each character. A great detective novel.

This is an excellent debut novel, narrated expertly. Gabe and Juliet search tirelessly for the killer, well worth a read!

Great debut from new crime writer

I read this book when it first came out and loved it, so had to listen to the audiobook too! The characters are wonderfully written, you have genuine empathy for the underdogs, distaste for the 'have-it-alls' and the two female detectives make a great team. The plot and pace are excellent, the author keeps you guessing right to the end who the murderer is. The narrator was good, only a couple of times I thought I would have read sections slightly differently, but having read the book first, that was inevitable. I thoroughly recommend Shot in the Dark and cant wait for the next one.
