About this listen
I won’t let anything happen to you.
Fourteen years ago, Braxton Kane’s feelings were forbidden.
As an officer, he couldn’t fall for an enlisted…no matter how much he longed for Holt Madigan.
Now — as a police chief in love with a digital assassin — his promise to always protect Holt is becoming harder to keep.
I’ll protect you.
Holt doesn’t understand why his best friend has been pushing him away for months.
But when Brax’s life and career are threatened, Holt refuses to allow the distance any longer.
The Madigans protect their own, and Brax is family, whether he believes it or not.
I won’t let anything happen to you either.
Forced together, Holt realizes his feelings for his best friend have changed. His desire to explore the promise their single night together held is undeniable. His resolve to protect the man who has always protected him is unshakable. But if Holt wants a future with Brax, he’ll have to search and destroy the person who attacked him — before Brax activates the kill switch and sacrifices himself.
Love and devotion. Friendship and trust. Family. It all comes down to this. Holt and Kane, together at last, in the final book of the Fog City romantic suspense series.

The romance aspects of this story were slow-burn, painfully so, and I kept listening so they could get their HEA.
After Holt and Brax inevitably got together they were pulled apart. The contrived angst got too much for me. I became bored with the manufactured angst and rambling monologues about the layers of deception and who put a hit on Brax. I wanted the book to be over 2 hours before it was. To be honest, It became a bit of a struggle and the only thing that kept me listening was the great narrator.
Drawn out contrived angst

The book begins with Braxton Kane, an officer in the army. He’s in a war-torn country and tasked with keeping his men alive. He meets Holt, and his whole world changes. He’s not just attracted to the man – all fresh-faced and innocent. He’s protective. He places himself in danger to protect Holt. It solidifies their friendship. Only years later does Holt find his feelings towards Brax deepening. They get one night, and Brax is back being a soldier and Holt moves on with his life.
But their paths keep crossing and eventually they’re both in the same city and both single.
And still they can’t get their shit together.
I wanted them to wind up together. But it’s not easy. Brax is now in law enforcement, and Holt’s family is definitely not on the right side of the law. So how can they make it work? Well, you’ll just have to listen and find out. Speaking of listening, Christian Leatherman narrated the book and I have to say I enjoyed his performance. I’m off to check out the first books in the series.
Fantastic ending to the series

Holt's story was amazing. I loved how the pieces of him from other books clicked into place and how he and Brax spent so many years apart, but found each other in the end.
New to me narrator got it all right!
If you haven't read/listened to this series, you should. It's fantastic!

I've been wishing for Brax and Holt's book ever since I read Prince of Killers and Layla Reyne didn't disappoint! For maximum enjoyment and a better understanding of this world, you need to read at the very least the Fog City trilogy. Silent Knight features cameos from some of my favorite AIW and Trouble Brewing characters, too, which might have made me squee a little, LOL.
This story is told in three parts. The first is in the past and told from Brax's POV, I just felt so bad witnessing Brax's unrequited love for Holt, even if it was a delight to see how their friendship became as tight as we witnessed in the Fog City series. The next part is in Holt's perspective and is set in the present. And the last part is from Brax's point of view.
Brax was so protective of Holt and Lily, despite it being a conflict with him being a Police Chief. Determined to save and protect them from everything and anything. He was even more amazing and swoon-worthy than I imagined. I really liked Holt, and how he finally realized his feelings for Brax. It was a slow burn, but it was so well done that I really didn't mind the wait. Their chemistry was off-the-charts from the first moment I met them, so I knew they would be explosive when they finally got together and they were. *fans self*
Christian Leatherman did such a great job with the audiobook! I think this is the first book I've listened to him narrate, but he did quite well with Silent Knight, especially considering how many characters there are in it.
I'm a huge fan of books with demisexual characters and this one was especially well done. Never mind that it was plot-oriented, action-packed, and interesting, and tied up some things that had been dealt with before, but not completely. And that ending! OMG, I hope this isn't the last we've seen of these fantastic characters, I just can't get enough of them all, and Ms. Reyne's storytelling brilliance.
Very recommendable!
Loved Brax and Holt's story!

I've loved the whole Madigan Family and reading about each sibling finding their person. Now finally, finally we are given Holt and Brax's whole story. The longing, the depth of love and devotion, I'm in awe of Brax and felt for his heart as he watched the man he loved fall for someone else, find out who he was, be betrayed multiple times, and face conflicting sides of the coin. These two were always meant to be together and Layla has created a masterpiece of suspense, longing, heartbreak, and hope in this Fog City finale. I loved this one so much and these two are my fav Madigan couple. I only wish we got more, got to see them married, and see the next chapter of their lives. Such good writing and heart. I loved it!!
Incredible, passionate, thrilling!

Holt and Brax’s love is so pure and enduring, 14 years in the making, they are my favourite couple of the series and the first third of the book was just so intense. I think Ms Reyne captured their situation perfectly and it broke my heart.
Christian Leatherman did an exceptional job narrating and I hope to hear more from him in this genre.

Right from the first book there has been a connection between chief of police Bracks and the loyal Holt Madigan. Their relationship changes, ages and grows in this steamy emotion filled book. This book is a fitting end to this truly fabulous series.
Brilliant
