About this listen

Discover the real story Jesus came to announce.

Many people think the message of the Gospel is that if we believe in Jesus, we will be saved from hell and be transported to heaven after we die. But what if that is not what the Bible actually teaches? What if the good news Jesus came to announce is much bigger, much better, and includes much more than merely what happens after we die? Revered best-selling scholar N. T. Wright reveals what the gospel really is and how it can transform our todays just as much as our tomorrows.

I throughly enjoyed this introduction to The Gospel. The fuller picture of the good news and what it means in in every tense (past, present and future).

Before listening to this I had been preparing lessons etc that were on the same subject, it served as really good confirmation as well as a source of fresh insights .

Through and really accessible

Good description of the basics of Christian belief. If Christ is the light of the world, then when the light shines, we see all other things by this light. Good title for newbies or for the curious or for those who'd like a gentle reminder of this worldview.
The New Testament scribes didn't concoct a resurrection; a resurrection motivated them to write the NT, while they were persecuted for holding their radically new beliefs.
The Good News is that we're not alone, that God exists, He cares, and He can help us live forever.

Wright's book is a breezy, tonally conversational presentation of something often misunderstood. The book is not meaty theology, and it's not a new way to view Christ. It is, however, an honest and true survey of the most basic Christian beliefs. Those already deep in the Christian worldview will probably find little that's new here. Those who are drawn to the door and perhaps intrigued by my claim that the resurrection was unexpected - and the implications of this - are more likely to find the book enlightening.
