About this listen

As a young woman, Jendara left the cold northern isles of the Ironbound Archipelago to find her fortune. Now, many years later, she's forsaken her buccaneer ways and returned home in search of a simpler life, where she can raise her young son, Kran, in peace. When a strange clan of shapeshifting raiders pillages her home, however, there's no choice for Jendara but to take up her axes once again to help the islanders defend all that they hold dear.

A relatively straightforward redemption story about a pirate wrestling with her past: murdered father, missing sister, years as a pirate.

The only drawback was the narration. The reader used the same breathless, strained nasal voice regardless of what was happening. It got rather annoying, so much that I nearly didn’t finish.

Well plotted, if predictable

a really good story with great characters that sadly gets lost on tangents that could have been spent developing the protagonists. entire chapters contribute no actual development of the story and instead seem to exist purely to waste time both for the protagonist and the reader.
despite that, still recommend.

Great Concept, needed editing
