Recommended if you enjoyed “The Left Hand of Darkness”, intriguing and unexpected story.

I wish the narrator had toned down the voices and accents a bit. It was more like listening to a radio play, too emotional for me to listen in bed.

Often books can leave me disappointed with the ending. This left me feeling thoughtful, wanting more and yet at a good point to jump off the storey. The narrator did a great job of holding characters throughout.

The pov character of a teenage boy was 2d and stereotypical to the extreme. He only cared about masturbation and violence, and was shocked he felt love for a family friend and her dog. The performance sounded like everyone was almost on the point of tears, very one note, but then, so was the book. Disappointing.
