About this listen
There is no sun. There is no moon. There is only gray - the smog belched from coal-fueled factories. The Workers silently shuffle to their assigned posts. The Outcasts watch from the alley walls. On every corner, a Watcher stands stone-faced, a rifle in hand. This is the only life that exists. Beyond the mountains is a dream. But dreams are foolish in a place like this.
Hannah has spent 19 years dodging Watchers and doing as she is told.
Do not look Watchers in the eye. Don't give them a reason to notice you.
When she wakes to the valley exploding in revolution, Hannah is forced onto a dangerous path, where nothing is what she believed. Suddenly freedom is in her grasp, and the way there requires working with the men she fears most.

A mashup
Firstly I have been given a copy of this book and in turn I will give and honest and unbiased review.
If you like The Host, you'll like this book, the narrator read this book in a story similar fashion. If you like the Hunger Games you'll like this book as well. I enjoyed this book, it was easy reading but would have appreciated a bit more "scene setting" the author didn't give me enough info to spark my imagination

One of the best SciFi/Dystopian that I have read.
Any additional comments?
I love SciFi but I am not into Dystopian. However this book changed my mind. It is one of the best that I have listened to/read. This shows how good the author is in portraying the characters and making them and the situation believable. There is no hope for the slave so the atmosphere is really depressing but this is good because this is what the characters are feeling. This also shows how good the narrator is at bringing out this emotions of the characters. I felt Hannah's depression and her fears
Hannah is the main character and the story is told through her POV. I didn't know her name until she told someone quite a way in the book. I was surprised because I did not question it. I was immersed in her character that I did not think about her name or how she looked like.
This is not your usual dystopian where the character is all brave and takes things in there stride. This is more realistic to me in that she was carried along with the circumstances and just acted to situation as they came along. This felt real and that it could have been anyone in her position it could have happened to. She was weak in character to begin with but she grow as she saw/learned/heard things about what life could be like. This gave her hope. She also made friends with people she thought she hated and she learns that not everything including human nature is black and white. There is romance but it does not take over the book.
I gave it a four star because I found it to be slow at times. But other then that I thought it was a great read!
I would recommend this book to everyone. There is not language or sexual content. However there is violence (mild torture) but it is to be expected in this type of book. I am looking forward to book two.
This audio book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
