About this listen

Solo is a delightful romantic novel from best-selling author Jill Mansell, not to be missed by readers of Lucy Diamond and Cathy Kelly.

Mad about a man who's dangerous to know? Surely it's better to go solo....

When Tessa Duvall, a struggling artist, reluctantly agreed to accompany her best friend, Holly, to a party at the elegant Charrington Grange Hotel, she had every intention of sneaking off early. For parties full of strangers bored the knickers off Tessa, and this one proved to be no exception - until she encountered Ross Monahan, whose wicked reputation was as high profile as the hotel he owned and ran with such panache.

But while Holly set about ensnaring his reluctant brother, Max, Tessa simply accepted Ross for what he was - a sensational one-night stand...until she realised, weeks later, that one-night stands can have far-reaching consequences....

a bit predicable and cheesy..... the narrator was alright, though the men all sounded a bit arrogant and flustered...

Great performance, ok story

The first chapter was super weird with the sex scene, but after that it is really nice with likable characters and the humour that Jill Mansell is known for. Performance was really nice, i love the different voices. She was very consistent with them.

Enjoyable

Enjoyed this book I liked the Holly and Adam meetups. The Narrator was good. The storyline was good although the brothers in it were like jigalos .

A Bath of romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No. I was pretty desperate for it to end. Too long drawn out.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Can't say either interesting or uninteresting. It whiled away preparing dinner in the kitchen.

What aspect of Penelope Freeman’s performance might you have changed?

Oh dear. This was the problem. Antonia, Max and Ross all sounded exactly the same, with a very irritating drawl.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

No.

Any additional comments?

I'd advise Penelope Freeman to have a go at changing her voice more for different characters and please don't repeat that awful drawl for her men and mistresses. Horrendous.
