When sisters Susan K and Renee better known as Sukie and Ron, find themselves in seriously depleted circumstances from the life they live with their parents. They are more than over joyed with their cousin Millie comes to visit and takes them to Boston and is going to help them find a new life. She has a husband and job for Sukie and her sister Rin is more than happy to accompany her out Wes. Sukie is even more overjoyed to learn her new betrothed has a daughter and she will be a mother. There’s just one small issue, sucky can’t speak due to the accident that took her parents and cousin Millie is happy to explain her husband to be taught sign language in Boston. Only that isn’t good enough Sukie and her sister have made up their own sign language and she isn’t going to learn the standard excepted sign language. So therefore cousin Millie prince dictionaries and when the sisters find their self in their new home and meeting new people they give them dictionaries so they too can learn this sign language but no one else knows. I absolutely love Marissa Masterson‘s books, but I found this one to be really flawed. Not only could Sukie and Rin could’ve learned sign language since she could not hear , she also could have write down what you want to say as opposed to making though she met learned this made up language. Wouldn’t it have been easier for her to learn sign language instead of getting everyone she plans to remain friends with learned this made up language? I had so many questions and what about her students? I just found so many flaws in the logic of her having this language. I know sign language was also at one point made up, but it is the main form of communication for those who cannot speak and why she thought she was too good to learn it baffles me. I will not even get into how this book could’ve been a champion for the sign language that so many people depend on, because I am not one of those who thinks we should walk on eggshells the problems we don’t know we are creating. What I will say is I thought it was odd that the two sisters thought they were too good to learn sign language and that everyone else should bow to them and learn this made up language. I know I am going on and on about this I will end it here by saying I have never given Marissa masters in less thanfive stars and although reluctant I had to get this one three. That was just too many unanswered questions end it just left me shaking my head. This will not stop me from reading her books in the future as I love Marissa Masterson‘s books, but this will not be one I go back to as I do her others. As far as the narrator goes I really enjoyed her narration I would definitely listen to books narrated by her in the future. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuation or errors, as I am blind and dictate most of my reviews but all opinions are my own and authentic.

I originally read this book in April 2021 and this is what I had to say about it then:
Another delightful story about a rather unusual Mail-Order Bride who is a teacher and a widower who keeps the peace in the town.
He has a very sweet baby who needs a mother and he needs a wife badly to help him bring up his daughter and to look after his home.
So, he writes away for a Mail-Order Bride and is so desperate that he sends money for her train fare in the first letter stipulating that there is to be no correspondence, just send the bride. Now isn't that a lovely beginning!
I was quite impressed with these very human characters with all their flaws and really nice personalities. The story is short but reads easily and is interesting and good entertainment too.
I can definitely recommend this to lovers of Mail-Order Bride stories as well as to readers who enjoy light romance with a bit of mystery.

I have just listened to the audio book and Oh My Goodness!!!!!
Julie Lancelot is a narrator of note! Her voices and acting are spot on and the perfect choice for this audio.
It was a pleasure to listen to this audio and it is a great pairing of author and narrator.
Listen to it - you will not be disappointed!

Christian Historical Romance

Not a super strong Christian thread, but Onie does return to his faith and sees the workings of God.
I enjoyed this story on both my kindle and my Audible apps. It was easy to go back and forth, and I truly appreciate that!
One of my favorite scenes is when Letty accepted Sookie.
The narration was wonderful!
