About this listen
Discover how to let your child’s voice be heard through the power of games, books, and toys, even if you feel completely helpless and out of ideas.
Does your child have a speech sound disorder or delay, but you’re not entirely sure what this means?
Are you afraid that your child may never learn to talk or will learn to talk too late?
If this sounds like you, Yasmin Akhtar understands your story and wants to let you know that your child is in good hands. If you think your child is at risk for language difficulties, the last thing you want to do is wait around. But, it’s scary not to know how to approach such a delicate situation. And the truth is, your fear of the unknown can sometimes be worse than the situation itself. Luckily, the missing piece that will help you and your child overcome the challenges that a speech delay or disorder brings is closer than you think.
Yasmin Akhtar, an SLT, is on a mission to help parents understand language development through the power of games! You’ll benefit from her methods, especially if you’re someone who:
- Has a child who displays problematic behaviors around speech sounds and language development
- Feels lost and doesn’t know if their child has a delay or a disorder
- Struggles to engage your child with language development
If you’ve finally had enough and want to get to the bottom of what’s happening with your child, then look no further.
In Speech Therapy for Kids, here is just a fraction of what you will discover:
- The latest research in language delays and disorders, so you can stop the guess-work
- Crystal clear explanations to help you understand the foundation of speech and language development
- The most important speech sound delays and disorders you need to be aware of
- A goldmine of games, books, and toys you can use at home to help your child unlock their true potential

I also really liked how it explained speech delays and disorders. Knowing that made the problem make more sense so now I feel like I'm better equipped to help my son be the best he can be. :)

As a mother of 3 boys who all have varying degrees of ADHD and all went through some speech delay i read books on the topics of parenting as often as i can. Some are obviously better and more filled with salient information than others. This book is the former. Chock full of information you can use to help you understand your situation and your childs needs.
All of that information is wonderful but the best part of this book for me hands down is the list of books, games, toys etc that the author outlines. It is amzing the link of playing games and with certain toys to improving your childs speech/learning. We stumbled upon the value of legos (perhaps by luck) with our oldest. He is the one with the strongest ADHD and had the longest speech delay. He is 16 now and still builds Legos. Albeit much more comples (and expensive LOL) ones like the Millenium Falcon he just finished. But its lego therapy none-the-less. He is now an A student in school participating as a varsity letterman in 2 sports and will soon be leaving for Unviversity.
This is a great and informative book. I highly recommend it.
