starting to become one of my favorites

i can see that a lot of people don't like the main character, i love him. i don't like when main characters are overly good, the mc is where selfish without being overly a bad person its a nice breath of fresh air.

the narrator does an excellent job in portraying the different characters

can't wait to find out how the mc will continue to gain power and move in the political landscape.

Bad ass main character

it got a bit predictable att times, but that might also be a good thing because it is good att rethinking old ideas

Not good.

The narrator is fantastic, the writing is fantastic and the premise is very interesting, but the story is really bad.

this is of course just my subjective opinion and I am too lazy to give any proper feedback.

Not for me but I can see its a good book.

First off I don't want to put anyone off. this is a good book. it's well written and I liked all the characters and their stories. I just have a prolem with this type of MC.

the issue I have is I have less than 2 hours remaining and the MC is still using everyone around him like tools. he even had a 2 minute long monologue on how his current bodies sister has sacrificed herself for him, believing it's for her brother, and it's better it was her and not him. even calling her a short but ultimately useful investment. I hate characters like this, and it is by far not the only time it happens. every conversation he adapts and changes his voice pitch actions, etc. it's like being in the mind of a psychopath as they complete their aims. I'm nearly done with the first book, and I'm not even sure I want him to survive. any kindness is only used as a way to make everyone around him not want to kill him. its such a shame because the side characters are so well written that I hate it when he uses them like tools.

there was even a part where he goes through the desert carrying his sister thinking about how he is immortal and sees everyone as insignificant which would be a good story line if it meant he actually started to change. bit no 2 hours in he's still the same manipulative slimeball who only want to get stronger. he shares more personality with alot of smart villains in cultivation books.

tl;dr this Main Character is not for me and it puts me off the whole story.
