Excellent

Plenty of information here. A great listen, recommended for fans of ww2 history. I will buy the book after listening to this for future reference.

Masterpiece but too detailed for audio

Of course this is a masterpiece but Glanz... listing a OOB with text and then have it read is nothing anyone can listen to... we should think of standard ways of representing these type of things in audiobooks.

Good listen

Most WW2 obsessives like myself will know all about Glantz. This is a condensed version of his 5 volume epic and it stands well despite being a lot shorter.

Obviously being an audible book no maps or photos. Still for anyone looking for an audible book on Stalingrad then this is the one.

So well read ..

Paul Woodson has done an absolutely stellar job narrating this book…clear as a bell and easy on the ear… it’s really a detailed factual account of the logistics involved in this horrendous battle .. might be too clinical for some but very well researched

Awesome detail

This is more of an academic text, and provides some excellent detail at a strategic level. Not as easy to listen to as other works on Stalingrad but a very worthy listen or read.

Excellent

Well researched, well written and well read. A very interesting history of the battle of Stalingrad with all pertinent subject areas covered.

To be avoided

Stalingrad fascinates me and I have read, seen and listened to many accounts. This stands out as the only one to leave me completely bored and irritated. It is like having someone read a stock list complete with dates of purchase and sale. There is no feeling and no human (inhuman?) emotion discussed just bare facts and figures. The narration is probably as good as possible for this type of book as another reviewer has noted but that goes nowhere near saving it. I do not readily give up on books but finally caved in half way through. There is much better material out there.

A list of events rather than a story

I can't imagine the volume of work that went into writing this, but as someone who was looking for a story it disappointed. Significant parts of this seem to be just a dispassionate list of events, when I was expecting the macabre details.
