About this listen

Dragons rule the world. Their claws are into every aspect of human life, from government to industry. But Kristen Hall is about to throw a wrench into all of that.

Because she's a dragon, too. She just doesn't know it...yet!

A dragon raised by humans, in the human world.

After graduating from the police academy, she's dropped right into the ranks of Detroit's elite SWAT team. A rookie, in SWAT? Unheard of. But what the dragons want, they get.

The reasons behind their machinations become clear as her dragon powers begin to surface.

Will Kristen rise to the challenges her new life delivers? What designs do the dragons have for her future? And perhaps most pressing of all - how did she come to be a dragon with human parents?

Really good

I had to speed the narrator up, she’s very slow and sounds as if she’s over acting. Good story though

Narrator difficult to listen too

I must admit, I did struggle at first with this book - I thought Kristen was a mega whiny brat who never listened to anyone and did what she felt was best when she came into her dragon powers. She felt invincible and refused to let anyone help her. However, I persevered and thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Kristen Hall has not long finished at the police academy and is surprised to find out she's been sent to SWAT - something that doesn't happen to rookies. There's a lot of resentment from her team mates, and it's made even worse when she finds out she's the steel dragon.

Kristen has to grow up fast and learn to rely on others to help her rather than her running in to save the day.

Plenty of action in this book and is well narrated by Emily Beresford.

Good start

I really enjoyed the story over all and I'm thinking I might get the next one. With any luck the steal dragon will have gotten over her arrogance by then.
I know it's a perfectly normal response to finding out you're bullet proof but bloody hell she was cocky!
I also turned down my listening speed from 1.5 to 1 as the narrator's voice was making my eardrums vibrate.

Pretty good

I found this book to be ok, but only ok. It is a little predictable. My main gripe is the narrator: Beresford read like it was a race to finish, her voice inexplicably going up and down. Her character definition also meant all the chaps sounded drunk.

Awful narrator...

The story itself was interesting, but it was repetitive, unimaginative and in some places the narrative was so predictable that that the skip button was needed. It is unlikely that I will continue with this series.

Interesting idea let down by poor story telling

I really love Kristen Hall and her family. spoiler alert I love how she uses living with humans to her advantage. Even though her situation change she state true to herself. I could not stop listening I wanted to know what happened in the plot and how she was going to get out of situations. loved the book. I would recommend it to your adults and adults. Good book to listen to

Excellent read

First off, the narrator sounds like a stern steel young Drill Instructor. Keep listening, because that steel in her voice and attitude shows the main character.
This book 1 could have been split into at least two books at least easily, so this enjoyable story is great value for money or credit (at the time of writing this review it is free in the plus catalogue).

Steel Narration.
