About this listen
Newly appointed vampire governor of New Jersey Belladonna Barrone is fast discovering that life as a vampire isn’t much easier than life as a mobster’s wife. But that experience certainly taught her some things about how to handle the problems that come with being governor. That is until a friend is kidnapped by the fae and his life put in danger, all because of her actions.
Figuring out how to save him feels very much above her pay grade, but she’s the boss, and the decision about how to handle this potentially deadly situation is completely up to her. With the clock ticking, she has no choice but to attempt a rescue.
Thankfully, she has the help of her team and some impressive new friends. But going to battle with the fae has painfully real consequences, and the outcome of their mission leaves them all reeling. While dealing with the fallout from the fight, Donna once again becomes the target of a jealous vampire rival, which puts her future in question. Somehow, she has to find the strength to keep going and overcome these new attacks.
But there’s only so much a woman can handle. Or is there? With new resolve, Donna knows her only option is to fight back. Who else is going to protect her family and friends? She’s never been one to run from her problems.
Even when her problems feel like a supernatural sucker punch.

"Paranormal women's fiction" as a litary slot might put off other men from getting hooked on the genre I would hope not.
B.J. Harrison does a good reading easy to listen to and good characterization.
Another great addition to the series.

I love that Kristen can tweak her writing style to accommodate different genres and I absolutely love that her main character in the First Fangs Club series is a middle-aged woman. I did chuckle and smile, recognising many nods to women of my age. 😉
This story picks up where the last book, Suck It Up, Buttercup left off.
B.J. Harrison is a really good narrator.
Sucker Punch is written from the point of view of our protagonist, Donna. I think the pace of BJ’s narration captures her maturity and personality. BJ varied his tone to convey the appropriate emotion in every scene – he transported me into the story. I liked the voices he created for all the characters and didn’t feel confused about who was speaking during the dialogue.
Sucker Punch was a gripping audiobook to listen to.
Our protagonist, Belladonna Barrone (aka Donna) continues to exhibit all the personality traits that I crave in the main character. Donna is intelligent, resilient, resourceful and has plenty of gumption. However, she isn’t stagnant, Donna is growing into her role as Governor of New Jersey and leads by example. Kristen isn’t breaking the mould with any of her supporting characters. However, I enjoyed that she created a wealth of them with various personalities and roles to play to progress the story. I’m invested in their journey and feel connected to our band of heroes.
I really enjoyed the plot with all its twists and turns and like how some of the threads were satisfactorily concluded by the end while others were left to continue into the next book and beyond. 😉
I don’t think that there’s any offensive content within these pages – language, violence or sex. However, there is implied violence that happens “off-stage” that’s worth mentioning.
I’d recommend Sucker Punch to lovers of second-chance stories. I think fans of women’s fiction will also enjoy it, even if the paranormal genre isn’t your usual thing.
A Gripping Story That I Enjoyed From Start To End
