I was sorry to finish and would have loved to have heard more about all the main characters.
It’s 1921 and the Great War has left untold tragedy, not only in lives lost, but in the survivors guilt, the scars of old wounds and the bigotries towards the indigenous Australians.
Three ex-servicemen, Jack Bell, an Aboriginal horseman; Snow McGlynn, a farmer; and Art Lovelee, an engineer – find themselves sharing a stretch of farmland along the Darling River. Art’s wife Grace, a battle-hardened nurse, with kindness and wisdom draws them together. Ultimately a tale of new beginnings and moving forward.
