Helen Juliet has written a fantastic retelling of Hansel and Gretel with her usual spin on the classic tale.

I loved the characters, and the storyline is unique to the original tale, but so endearing and brought a tear or two to my eyes😢😢

I absolutely loved it 😍

Kieran Flitton does another amazing job narrating this audiobook and bringing the characters to life 🥰

Story: Helen Juliet has been working through her fairy tale retellings for a while, but this one is the best yet! The author took the plot of the tale and twisted it into an incredibly emotional story of childhood friends becoming lovers, of a family being reunited after years of estrangement and of healing painful wounds. I cried, I laughed and I swooned. This means that was a job incredibly well done!
Narration: Kieran is a master. He fits Helen's stories so much it's incredible! Brilliant!

This is a retelling of Hansel and Gretel (one of my favourites). Hans and his twin sister Greta return to their village Gingerbread where Hans finds love with his best friend Chester. The story is a sweet and sometimes intense Friends to Lovers and I loved the way Helen adapted the story, although I will never look at a candy cane in the same way. Kieran is a new narrator to me but I loved his narration and the way he brought the characters in this super sweet story to life.

I'm loving these fairytale adaptations by Helen and this one surprised me. I never really thought much about Hansel and Gretel but this was so cleverly done you can pick up all the hints and parallels while still reading a new story. you can tell so much love goes into creating these stories and I will admit to a few teary moments while reading this one. Everything I've read by Helen just has this special magic I can't explain. I'm always enthralled by her writing and enchanted by her stories.

Hans and Chester are so sweet together and I'm always a sucker for a second chance romance and this one is so wonderful, sweet and a little bit naughty 😉 I love the kinky inclusion of sweets, very nice touch. I just loved it! I can't wait to see which fairytale she's going to tackle next!!

The narrator made this one for me. The story was good, and I liked the characters. There were some things I found off-putting, mainly in phrasing, especially in the more steamy parts. Overall, a good listen that I’d recommend.

Helen Juliet does it again with this wonderful take on the Hansel and Gretel story. I love fairy tale reimaginings where I can try to spot allusions to the original story and here those are mixed with the friends to lovers, gay awakening and second chances trope. Hans and Chester have a lovely connection as friends and it just gets better as that develops into something more. To top it off, we have one of the most evil step-mother's you'll find and I love a great villain. There is some angst when this evil woman springs a surprise on the guys, but watching them overcome the obstacles is heartwarming. This is how fairy tale takes should be done! Kieran Flitton has done some wonderful for this author in the Rosavia series and other books recently, but his performance here is something extra special. He sounds like he's totally caught up in the story and living it with the characters. The evil characters voices just drip venom and menace and the progression of Hans' and Chester's relationship from friends to lovers is perfectly conveyed in his voice. A perfect match of author, story and narrator/performer.

I love these modern fairy tales Helen Juliet is writing. I love them even more narrated by Kieran Flitton!
Sweet Tooth is a super sweet, friends-to-lovers story, with two nice characters who get up to very naughty shenanigans!

Loved Chester and Hans, they gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings! I also loved Hans’s twin sister Greta, and how the three of them together manage to get rid of both the witches in the story.

This friends-to-lovers reimagining of the classic fairy tale involves a new character, Hans’s childhood best friend, Chester, who works in the local sweet shop for a mean old hag... everyone, including sister Greta, is grown up now, out and proud and ready to mingle! This series by Ms Juliet keeps getting better — I loved these characters, the familiar and new elements of the story intertwined in the best ways to create a fresh and fun take on the original, complete with a wicked stepmother and a love of sweets, one or two of which might be employed to naughty purposes. As always, Kieran Flitton delivers with narration that brings the characters and emotions in the text to life. Recommended!

Fun MM riff on classic tale is sweet and sexy!

I like Helen Juliet stories and her new ones based loosely on fairy tales are quite enjoyable. This book was cute.

Hans hasn’t been home in ten years. He and his twin sister Greta left their sleepy small town to the big city to make their way and despite their father’s vast wealth, they had no support from him. They believe everyone blames them for their mother’s death and so they’ve stayed away. Only news of their father’s illness has brought them home.

Chester, for one, is happy the twins have returned. He works in the sweets shop and seeing his former best friend brings back both happy memories and bittersweet ones. He never found the courage to tell Hans he had a crush on him and now, when the opportunity presents itself to play Hans’ boyfriend, Chester leaps at the chance.

Hans isn’t sure why Chester is helping him out, but he’s grateful. He’s missed their friendship and Chester’s ready agreement to show up as his date at the family dinner is appreciated. But first Chester’s car breaks down with the two men in it and they must travel through the forest to find safety. A discovery leads them to safety, and as they warm up physically, things between them heat up as well. There might be a candy cane involved, but I’m trying to put that image aside. There was also later a chocolate incident I don’t care to remember. Sometimes Ms. Juliet is a little too clever and that was one of those times.

But I digress. The men are finally in a position to express their true feelings, but the physical distance feels like a chasm that can’t be overcome. Then all is revealed at a family dinner, and suddenly things look much rosier.

I enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see which fairy tale the next book addresses. And I have to mention Kieran Flitton who narrates all the books in the series. He’s a delight to listen to and I enjoy his work. So I’m eagerly anticipating the next book.

While this story is loosely based on the traditional Hansel and Gretel tale, Hans and Chester's romance felt very original and captivating. There were just enough references to the original story for me to notice them, but the overall plot took on a life of its own as the story progressed. I've always been a sucker for second-chances at love, and Hans and Chester's reconnection was particularly sweet since the two of them were still hopelessly in love. As these former best friends banded together like old times, it was such a joy to see them confess their feelings to each other and pursue something real. Unlike some romances where the characters have to build up trust and an emotional connection, Hans and Chester were already all-in and just needed a push to be honest with each other. The rest of the story was a sweet exploration of their affections and a chance for Hans and Greta to finally get some closure about what happened with the town of Gingerbread. I can honestly say that I did not see some of those twists and turns coming, and in true fairytale fashion the good guys walked away with a huge victory. Kieran Flitton was an amazing narrator for this audio, and I couldn't be happier with the way he brought these men to life!
