About this listen

A powerful story of two unlikely friends brought together by the love of a dog.

It takes only one day at their new school for Parker and Sven to become mortal enemies. Parker's had a terrible summer and just wants to be invisible while Sven is desperate to make an impression and be known as anything other than 'that boy with epilepsy'.

When Parker discovers her beloved dog, Alaska - whom she had to give away last year - now belongs to Sven, she's determined to steal her back. Of course, that's easier said than done....

Beautiful story

an absolutely beautiful story about learning to stop judging, to look beyond what things appear to be and being a better person in general.

full of disabled representation in terms of both physical and mental health. there's also neurodivergency.

the main characters are great people but also horrible people. they treat each other poorly but also wonderfully. they learn a lot from each other and become better.

Loved this great story for young people

This is a great story for young people because it has really interesting characters, including a dog, and a great plot with lots of different points of view. The story is moving and amusing with excellent life lessons for young and old alike. As an adult listener I especially appreciated that it is both very well written and narrated.
