Summary

Rio Wells, Texas, 1886

Dustin McCutcheon gets the surprise of his life when he comes face-to-face with Sidney Calhoun, the spitfire offspring of his father's worst adversary. The whole of Texas knows that McCutcheons and Calhouns just don't mix. Period. Yet Dustin is drawn to Sidney. The stirrings of attraction she brings out leave him with a serious decision to make: break the hearts of his family - or break his own. Neither choice is palatable....

Texas Lonesome, book eight of the McCutcheon Family Saga, continues the story of the brave and passionate men and women of Y Knot, Montana, and Rio Wells, Texas, by USA Today best-selling author Caroline Fyffe.

Cannot recommend.

Upon reading the first book in this series, I thought the town name of Y Knot was rather bizarre and unlikely and not at all amusing. However, I continued with the books anyway. Having got this far, I really cannot continue. Perhaps keeping readers interested for multiple books is difficult but I started to lose interest when each book became more and more unlikely and unrealistic. The stories and situations are pure fantasy and could never actually happen and therefore I would not class as historical fiction. When I began to see the characters named after the weather, then as July and his sisters April and May, I stopped considering this as serious historical fiction and ultimately stopped wasting my money on any further books. Very disappointing as I had high hopes of these books being as good as Tracie Peterson or Rachel Wesson. One plus has been the narrators who have all been excellent.
