About this listen

The final volume in the bestselling Library Trilogy, following THE BOOK THAT WOULDN'T BURN and THE BOOK THAT BROKE THE WORLD.

The secret war that defines the Library has chosen its champions and set them on the board

The fate of an infinite library hangs on one book, a book that holds the power to break the unbreakable. In the face of such forces, fragile things like hearts, family, and the world seem certain to fail.

The people most vital to Livira are scattered across time and space, lost, divided into factions, in mortal peril. Somehow, she must bring them together and resolve the unresolvable argument that fuels the library’s war. The bond between Livira and Evar has stretched and stretched again. Can it hold at the end, when things fall apart? Can it bring them together against impossible odds? This is the last chapter, the final page. The end threatens and no one, not characters, readers, or even the author, will emerge unscathed.

Mind bending journey

I've read and listened to many books, well into the hundreds. I've NEVER had a story grip me like this trilogy has. This is unlike anything, I've ever experienced.

The characters are awesome, every one of them is believable and has their own arc of development. There are very few static characters, of which most are secondary anyway.

From the very beginning of the first book, there is a sense of something big. Something extraordinary. Sometimes trilogies have this tendency to get worse in the second or third parts, not this one. It's as good as it gets since the beginning til the finish.

One thing I have to mention, is that some people might find the pacing to be slow. There is a lot of "overthinking inducing parts" where characters go in depth on their thoughts, philosophy and experiences. It's something to keep in mind if you generally like books with more dynamic storytelling.

That said, it's absolutely full of action of many different types, for me the balance of it with the slower parts is perfect.

Just listen to the first book and go from there, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. It's well worth the credits that need to be spent.

Astounding and beautiful, again.

As usual with his books I cared so much about the characters in the series I didn’t want it to end, but as usual he sticks the landing so well, I was happy how it did. Hack! Hack! 😘

A great conclusion to a long complex journey

Great conclusion to the story although it left me sobbing... I can tell this series will linger in my mind for years to come as any good, thought provoking book should. The premise is quite complex so I wondered where could the story go but I was not disappointed despite my inevitable tears. Also the integration of reality into a fantasy setting was surprising and felt like a risky move but Mark made it work!
