About this listen
The hilarious new book from one of Britain's best-loved national treasures! As told by the man himself.
This isn't a book of life lessons. It's not going to tell you make your bed, or stand-up straight or any of that. There's no blueprint to follow here. But, at 43 years of age, and with a bit more time on his hands than usual, Freddie Flintoff has had a moment to reflect, and he's noticed that although there's been little method in the madness, there has been the occasional common thread.
The Book of Fred is filled with anecdotes, observations and the odd opinion all told with Fred's trademark humour and no-nonsense style. Fred's approach to life draws on the sublime (his series-winning performance in the 2005 Ashes) and the ridiculous (singing Elvis Presley's 'Suspicious Minds' in front of a live audience), from highs (making the transition to top TV presenter) to occasional lows (accidently upsetting the lovely Bruce Forsyth), from the profane (discussing Shane Warne's barnet with Hollywood royalty) to the profound (why 'having a go' leads to self-respect).
Throughout, Fred shares his code for success, happiness and a life fully lived, gleaned from half a lifetime of hard yakka on the wicket, in the dressing room, behind the wheel, in the boxing ring and even treading the boards of a stage musical. And he gives his listeners a laugh, some joy and (the occasional) pause for thought along the way.

The Book of Fred
I’ve never watched Fred play cricket (never really had an interest in the game) haven’t seen him on tele (or read any articles in papers) but I’ve really enjoyed every minute of this book, what a true gent and straight talking no bullshxt northern star
Well done mate not bad for a Lancashire Lad, another few miles further east and you could’ve been a Yorkie 👍😊Martin Langan

Read some of his books but enjoyed him reading this to me. Frank, honest, funny, heartwarming , sad. With funny stories and tender moments. What more could you want. An unapologetic mulling over of his life. Perhaps reviewing it has made him the man he is today. Hope it helps him recover his present problems. I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing

some really fun and interesting incites and tales
Most of it is excellent and interesting. He does repeat himself a lot. You notice this if you listen to it relatively quickly. He can also get a bit preachy but overall it is a good listen.

Entertaining
His almost childlike innocence and honesty makes for a good listen. Naturally sunny with out trying! Down to earth stories that people can relate too.

A cracking read from a top bloke
Thoroughly enjoyed this memoir from Freddie…written and read with the classic north west twang and view of life. Open, honest and endearing Freddie narrated well giving us insight to his life. It has changed my opinion of him completely Top gear showed the flaws he describes about himself and it all makes sense to explain that dark side. He’s a genuinely top lad and so grounded in life, definitely one of your own and someone I admire more. It’s never easy when you’re a down to earth local lad to deal with the spotlight but Freddie’s done a great job. 10/10 for sharing your journey lad.
