About this listen

In love and war, whom can you trust?

Hampshire, 1944. Her face still bearing the scars from the explosion at the factory, Rita Brown is nonetheless back on her feet. She's caught the eye of local wide boy Blackie Bristow, who's sweeping her around the country in a life of shady glamour. But there's a war on, and life is not all fun and games.

Some of the local men are taking advantage of the topsy-turvy world to break more than just hearts, and standing up to them comes with its own costs. Rita keeps calm and carries on with a little help from her friends at the factory. But then she discovers someone there has been leaking secrets to the Germans.

With D-day on the horizon, Rita must work out whom she can rely on - and fast.

The second book in the series and nicely continues the story of the characters but written so that it could be read on its own. Good storylines that reiterates the hardships and heartaches of WW1. Happy and sad moments that leave you wanting to know what happens next. Luckily I downloaded all three books at once!

The story of women at war.

Omg I cried my eyes out at the end. Noooooo whyyyyyy. Brilliant story with loveable characters. Ok narration but could have done with my emotion into the characters.

Having already listened to Them Munitions Girl’ by same author but narrated by Ann Dover it is a terrible shame that Ann isn’t reading the rest of the books in the series. Ann Dover in my opinion is the best narrator of all, very clear and she has the knack of being able to read the story and drawing you into it.
A very good story from start to finish, left me wanting to hear more. Such a shame about the narrator, the whole series should have been read by the same person. It took me a little time to figure out who was who in this second book as they weren’t portrayed in the same way as the first book.

Having said all that I did enjoy this second story very much , I was kept captivated.

This narrator wasn’t for me !!!!

Ups and downs of life and love in Gosport in WWII. Focusing on the factory women workers, it follows a set of exciting and awful events that develop the characters, relationships and community through hard times and good.

Narration good but would be nice if the beginning of each chapter and section started a bit more accentuated as it all blurs into one.

Feel good war era love stories

This is the second book in the Rosie Archer "Munitions Girls" trilogy. WW2 rages on and our girls continue to experience love and heartbreak while the war continues. Excellent follow up to "The Munitions Girls" a must read to continue the saga of life during the dark days of the war. Beautifully narrated by Helen Lloyd. Highly recommended!

Another great read!
