Summary
Dark dealings in the city of London
Eric Ward is still uneasy on the board of merchant bankers Martin & Channing. Their defense against a hostile takeover is pushing the limits of the law.
But Eric soon has problems nearer home: his wife’s colleague is charged with the murder of his fiancée in his London flat. He asks Eric to represent him.
Eric discovers some very interesting facts about the dead woman. Then Eric is called back to London to deal with the takeover gone wrong. He finds his separate roles intertwining. Can he save his reputation and expose the dark side of London’s financial heart?

The whole series is such a treat!
In "The City of London Murder," Eric Ward continues his endeavours into investing and, soon, his keen mind and observation skills are needed in several investigations. As always, Roy Lewis delivers a meticulously plotted and paced mystery brimming with fascinating characters.
The last two books, "The City of London Murder and "The Shipping Murder," are focused specifically on finance and investment legal issues. I'm curious if this is the direction for the rest of the series.

Being drawn into things I never thought would interest me … addictive
I like the main character, the stories & the interesting way it weaves detecting & the law ….. also the performance is fabulous - about to start another one - super love the series

Easy going story with great narration
A great coupling of the easy writing style of Roy Lewis with the great John Lee narrating
