Summary

The perfect escape....

Gabrielle Adams has it all - brains, beauty, a handsome fiancé and a dream job in publishing.

Until, one day, everything changes.

The ‘Underground Killer’ takes his victims when they least expect it: standing on the edge of a busy Tube platform, as they wait for a train to arrive through the murky underground tunnels of London.

Gabrielle soon learns that being a survivor is harder than being a victim, and she struggles to return to her old life. Desperate to break free from endless nightmares, she snatches up an opportunity to run a tiny bookshop in a picturesque cove in rural Cornwall.

She thinks she’s found the perfect escape, but has she swapped one nightmare for another?

Suspense and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced thriller, set amidst the spectacular Cornish landscape.

Excellent. I was rooted to the spot.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS AUDIO BOOK. Very entertaining and I will listen to it again. The narrator was perfect, I loved listening to her including the mild Irish accent. Thanks Audible for yet another introduction to a great Author.

LJ Ross does it again

I love Louise’s books. This is a bit different from her previous books but still had the same mystery and suspense that I love in her books. Great characters. Hope there is more to come from Cornwall. Well done Louise

An easy listen.

I'm trying to broaden my reading, and since I live in Cornwall I thought this would be a fun diversion.
Pros: it's short, undemanding, and free! The story ticks along nicely. You can sometimes guess where the story is heading before it gets there. I don't mind that as it makes me feel a little clever lol, although serious crime readers might find that underwhelming!
Cons: it's a little bland. The characters veer towards the cardboard cut-out at times. The Cornwall described is nearer Doc Martin than the place I actually live in.
All in, a gentle listen. Good for the commute.

Not for me but not the author's fault :-)

I have loved the Ryan stories and read this not realising it wasn't part of that series. So it didn't fulfill my expectations but that is hardly the author's fault. It shows LJ Ross is versatile and creative. I just prefer the Ryan books so I'll do my research next time

Good

a lovely story that sort of lost it towards the end in trying to become a psychological thriller but somewhat missing the mark. up until that point it was believable and engaging with lovely characters. whoever decided in the 'twist' made a mistake - it just did not fit with the tone of the book and detracted it from the worthwhile story that had developed until then

Easy book for summer

I enjoyed this book. It's more an easy read about starting over, falling in love with a bit of cime/thriller mixed in. It's predictable, and not 100% realistic, but still entertaining. The narration was good.

Surprisingly good read

Not your usual romance, with so much bad luck and near death experiences for one girl. Good yarn and easy listening

A lovely story and good whodunit

Contrary to some reviewers I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found the narrator skilled and easy to listen to and the characters sympathetic and believable.
A very good listen with a positive feelgood factor.
