About this listen

Get the composition right of tattoo ink, you have the latest mind-control drug on the market. It’s the sex-traders’ dream, or worst nightmare, depending on the concentrated dose of the ink—and just who’s wearing it….

Or that’s how it was supposed to go down.

For ex-MI7 killer Kiyen, his ink ability has been thrown into reverse now his ink has been cut away. Drowning fast and hard in the land of the “normals”, he’s struggling to come to terms with this new way of ghosting through life.

As a Second Ink and low-grade empath, Fal’s left to pick up the pieces. Yet when the origins of the ink drip feed into Kiyen’s and Fal’s lives, Fal finds he’s in for a fight to the death to stop Kiyen falling into a darkness in soul no one saw coming.

There’s a rougher, darker soul walking through UK streets. One that’s about to turn Kiyen’s head with the true origins of...family.

Speechless

Simply put, this was mind blowing. Too many thoughts to describe, the intensity of this book. The detail was incredible, the knowledge of the universe and all it imcompeses was superb. No one can write like Jack, and no one ever will. As for Dan. The ease in which he narrated was seamless. My favorite author and narrator, together they create a world of Dark, love, lust and supernatural. They create a world, I would gladly walk through. Thank you both for this journey through the unknown.

Dark and delicious

I'm a fan of Jack's and have been since I picked up Don't a few years back, so when I'm able to fully immerse myself in her books in audio, add in Dan Calley to the mix, and then I'm super happy.

There is something about the way Dan manages wrap himself around these characters that really adds a whole new dimension to the books. His narration is never forced, it just flows naturally as he almost caresses the words.

The Dark of You isn't a book you can just pop on and forget about, the story is complex and there are so many nuances that you really need to make sure you listen so you don't miss anything. It's just like everything Jack does, incredible well written,

We rejoin Kiyen and Fal et al as they try to stay safe, and Kiyen desperately tries to adjust to the events in book 1. But all isn't as it seems, there is more dangerous threat out there, lurking and waiting in the shadows for the right moment to step forward and reveal it's true intentions. Will they, Erin, Alfie and everyone around them be able to survive? Well there's only one way you're gonna find out!

Absolutely fantastic.

Being a fan of Jack L Pyke’s books and having really enjoyed the first book in the series I knew I was going to love this book. But I didn’t realise how much.

Without revealing any of the incredible well written, twisted and oh-so-satisfying plot, this book is so fantastic that even though I have been “Pyke’d” before, my mind is still buzzing with how stunningly creative Jack is. I often I wish I could spend a week in her head, just hanging around, following her creative process. It’s outstanding.

It’s a book that will make you wonder, make you think long after you’ve read it, it has an awesome twist on the paranormal and the darkness and steam twisted in the story just adds more delicious layers.

And then Dan.. His narration is stunning. His tones flow like melted chocolate. The way he finds voices to all of the characters and makes them sound so believable. I can’t get enough of his performances.

And when Jack and Dan come together I am left standing and clapping long after the rest of the audience is gone.
