Summary

How would you feel if you drew the Death Card from a Tarot deck?

Seth, the bumbling and incompetent police chief of Red Cedar, calls Liz and asks her to help him solve the murder of his deputy, Leroy. He’s worried he might be a suspect because Leroy was going to run against him in the upcoming police chief election.

His alibi is that he was getting a tarot card reading from Madame Dika when the murder occurred, but she vehemently denies that the reading ever occurred.

And what about the relationship between Liz and Roger, the San Francisco lawyer she’s fallen in love with? He gives her advice and helps her solve the case, but will their long-distance relationship turn into something more?

A puse-resister with a very special dog, food, and mouth-watering recipes from a two-time USA Today best-selling author.

fortunate to find a good book

I enjoyed the book. I have never had my fortune read but am intrigued with them on tv, because they are so often played by con artists and I like to see how they trick the unsuspecting customers. So this book was interesting to see the authors interpretation of the different cards and there meanings. Which played out nicely wrapped up in a murder, especially with all the suspects. The characters are likeable which is what makes this such a great long running series and it doesn't matter where you pick it up from.
Liz a B&B owner and part time amuter detective gets a phone call from the sheriff asking for help, his deputy has been murdered and he thinks he will be the prime suspect. The deputy was making a play for his job and the sheriff doesn't think his alibi will vouch for him. He was getting a tarot reading at the time of the murder and when Liz find the death card by the body she knows she is going to have to go for a reading, but will it being her good fortune? Or bad? Or even provide the sheriff with an alibi. There is also the ex wife celebrating his death by having a spar day at the B&B and Liz asks.for help from her staff in tracking down her alibi or motive. The cafe owner is also a good place for gossip and might just provide some clues to help solve the murder, as well as great food. Can she find the killer?
I liked the narrator and enjoyed listening to her bring the characters to life.
