I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the latest slice of Riyria Chronicles.

As ever, the story is well paced, cleverly thought out and the performance by Tim Gerard Reynolds is simply sublime.

The bonus excerpt from the next series "Age of Empire" was a real surprise and I look forward to that as soon as it is published.

What made the experience of listening to The Death of Dulgath the most enjoyable?

I am already a fan of the Riyria stories, and love the two main characters, but this story and the other two "prequels" have explained so much about the two men who make these stories so enjoyable. As to what made the experience enjoyable, well, I thought there would be no more Riyria stories, so I was pleased when I saw "The Crown Tower". When I spotted "The Rose and the Thorn" I was delighted. I was ecstatic when I found "The Death of Dulgath. I really do hope that Mr Sullivan writes more about these two fantastic characters. I also hope that Tim Gerard Reynolds agrees to narrate them.

What other book might you compare The Death of Dulgath to, and why?

It would be difficult to find a book, or series that could be fairly compared to any of the books in The Riyria. I can't think of any with characters with a relationship as complex as the one that exists between the two main character in these stories.

What about Michael J. Sullivan and Tim Gerard Reynolds ’s performance did you like?

Tim Gerard Reynolds brings the two main characters to life, and give depth and feeling to the stories. I apologize for not really paying attention to Mr Sullivan's contribution, as I needed to answer the door just as he started speaking, and he was all but finished when I got back.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I spent quite a bit of all these stories swinging from laughing my head off to choking up with tears. The emotional content is wonderfully done, and you really do feel for the characters, and care about what happens to them. The death of a particular female character actually made me cry.

Any additional comments?

I do hope that Mr Michael J. Sullivan will be returning to Riyria as I for one would love to read, or listen to more of these wonderful stories.

Another brilliant tale from Riyria Chronicles series, The Death of Dulgath is the third book in the series and my tenth Riyria book. I absolutely love these two characters Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater. Michael J. Sullivan's writing is excellent, to continue keep coming up with amazing plots and adventures for my two new favourite duo is truly amazing. Close to home in Melborn, Royce and Hadrian have become thieves for hire, under their new company name Riyria, taking on expensive jobs for nobles around the world of Elan. I have fallen in love with this world that the author has created and how well the two main characters work with one another through out the books, you just can't get enough of this series. In this book Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater are hired to help to prevent the assassination of Lady Dulgath, three attempts have been made already on the lady's life. All is not as seems when they travel into an ancient corner of Elan. Royce and Hadrian will find them selves in various situations that takes lots of fantastic twist and turns.This is a classic fantasy tale, full of last minute escapes and intrigue, I can honestly say that Michael J. Sullivan's books are worth reading for any fan of fantasy. Now for the last book The Disappearance Of Winters Daughter, very highly recommended..😁🗡⚔️💙

I am a Ryria fan and this tale brought a range of emotions with the width and depth of the tale. You can enjoy the book even if you have not read the rest of the adventures. Great narration as usual

There are some technical problems with the audio, parts where sentences suddenly end part through a word or start with a pop part way through a word.

I really like these books and the short stories. This one opens up a bit more of the Royce back story. Good plots and the action flows in a believable way. I love the way the author concentrates on telling the tale rather than getting lost in his own literary style. A lesson many of his contemporaries should take heed off. I hope we see more of Royce and Hadrian in the future as there are not enough good characters in modern fantasy.
