About this listen

A fatal epidemic commonly known as 'Snoggle Spots' is sweeping the country and affecting the nation's youth. Telltale signs are premature ageing, grey hair, comfortable cardigans and sensible shoes. Frank and Arthur think their neighbour might be involved.

In a nutshell, this is one of those stories where, if you're listening as an adult, you just have to accept the unbelievable and allow the kids themselves to enjoy the absurdity of this surreal tale where the adults act like idiots, oblivious to the villain staring straight in their faces, and the children are the only ones who can save the day. As so many books for children tend to be written.

While Jamie Rix is mostly known for his "Grizzly Tales", he does seem capable of writing longer novels. Even if there areas where this story in particular drags itself down with its own long-winded descriptions and black humour scattered throughout. However, Nigel Planer's narration does help to keep your attention, and is worth the purchase alone in my opinion.

Very daft, long-winded -- but still enjoyable
