About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The extraordinary memoir of the sporting icon, devoted friend and fundraising hero who has inspired the nation in his fight against MND.
The Extra Mile is no ordinary sports memoir. But Kevin Sinfield is no ordinary sportsman. A one-club legend of Leeds Rhinos, who has now crossed codes as a defence coach for Leicester Tigers, Kevin Sinfield is a rugby icon. But in recent years has shown heroism of a very different kind through his selfless and extraordinary fundraising for Motor neurone disease (MND), the terminal illness that has affected his best mate and former teammate Rob Burrow.
Sinfield's epic challenges have included running 7 marathons in 7 days, and running over 101 miles in 24 hours. In the process, Sinfield has captured the hearts of the nation and raised nearly £5 million for MND. He was awarded an OBE in the Queen's Birthday honours for his efforts.
Told with Sinfield's characteristic warmth, dry wit and inspirational leadership, The Extra mile is the story of an astonishing life, of an enduring friendship, of perseverance against the most difficult of challenges, and of a remarkable, humble human being who has defied the odds. The book equips readers with the tools and the mindset to embrace togetherness and to overcome their own challenges. It leaves the reader with the urgent question: Who would you go the extra mile for to help in life?

What a inspirational man
Being a fan of rugby union is embarrassing to not know the league names. That is until the name Sir Kev turns up. The guts and determination of that man is astonishing.

An emotional read
Kevin narrated this himself, true to his character to express his love for Rob Barrows and his team mates. Above and beyond doing everything in his power to make a difference, if only more people in the world were so loyal in love for all in need and giving his all no matter how hard the world would be a beautiful place. A true Brother in Arms in raising awareness and funds to find a cure for MN bless your heart Kevin.

Brilliant and motivational - what a man!
Of course I knew of Kevin Sinfield; Of course I knew of Rob Burrows; Of course I knew of MND. But this book has given me more of an insight into love and all its dimensions. The genius of Sinfield is not in his writing, which is good it lies within the thought processes that he portrays so well. A further stroke of brilliance was for the man himself to read it - you HEAR his voice.
The book should have taken me 6 hourse to hear, but I had to stop it and digest the mental process. His treatise on "team" is a huge eye opener.
I did not "enjoy" this book but I am very glad I listened to it. It is uplifting and thought provoking and ...............
