About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Kathleen E. Woodiwiss's debut romance....

The Flower

Doomed to a life of unending toil, Heather Simmons fears for her innocence—until a shocking, desperate act forces her to flee...and to seek refuge in the arms of a virile and dangerous stranger.

The Flame

A lusty adventurer married to the sea, Captain Brandon Birmingham courts scorn and peril when he abducts the beautiful fugitive from the tumultuous London dockside. But no power on Earth can compel him to relinquish his exquisite prize. For he is determined to make the sapphire-eyed lovely his woman...and to carry her off to far, uncharted realms of sensuous, passionate love.

I thought I would hate this.

I kept wanting to hurl my phone for the first part of this audiobook. I just hated all the characters so much and was so disapointed as this book had been recommended to me many many times. I wondering what I was missing and how did people iike (never mind love) this book? I don't know when I went from wanting to hurl my phone to so immersed in the story that I wanted to snap at anyone who interrupted it. From around that point on I could not stop listen to this book until it finished. Then I got it why people loved it so much. I would call it an experience or a journey. I am writing this review about a year later and I still remember this book so well.

I just wanted to add for anyone else who was confused after finishing this audiobook:

"Book 2" is actually a short novella called the Kiss which is in an anthology that you can buy as an ebook called Three Weddings and a Kiss. It's not in audiobook format,

"Book 3" is in another anthology Married At Midnight and that novella is called Beyond the Kiss which is around 85 pages depending on what format you are reading it. I haven't found it as an ebook. Also not in audiobook format.

In Goodreads they are listed as books 1.1 and 1.2 which makes more sense as they are short. Both Novellas are the stories of Raelynn and Jeff. The full length story is A Season Beyond a Kiss which is listed as book 4 here. I haven't listened to it yet so I don't know if the novellas are more like bonus material or if you will be confused if you don't read them prior to the audiobook.

An Utter DELIGHT for me!

I first read this book in the early 1980s and it has never left me. It was my first proper introduction to this genre and I was astounded as to how much of this book remains with me. I would Sat that I probably did not remember about 10% of it.
My ❤️ is full! Thank you for generating this on Audio. Ms York has done a FANTASTIC JOB in my opinion!
Although I wanted to be the first to leave a review, I slowly savoured the listening, rewinding time and time again because I loved it so.
I have already bought and downloaded Jeff's book (which I did not read before) and I will be diving into it once I hit send on this review.
