About this listen
The sentient star ship Echo is sent on humanity’s first interstellar voyage to colonize a new world, lightyears away from Earth. The mission ends in catastrophe, and Echo is catapulted thousands of years into the future. The captain of Echo, Kip Eastcott and his crew return to Earth to find the solar system has changed beyond imagination. What is the purpose of the colossal metal cylinder in orbit around Jupiter, and the enigmatic girl AI at its heart? How has the solar system regressed in nearly ten thousand years? And most crucially, who are the tyrannous and murderous race from the terraformed planet Venus, who call themselves Flaxens? Kip must find answers to these mysteries if humanity is to be saved from annihilation.

Well that was unexpected.. .
This is one of those books that stays with you for days after you finish. There were some actually brand new scifi concepts. It is both dark and wonderfully hopeful at times. There when the attrocities The Flaxens did made me pause the book to recover. Beautiful writing style and solidly narrated. There is once character you will absolutely adore, I guarantee it. My only small gripe would be that the Narrator could be better at doing male, but that I'm just being picky at this point.
