About this listen
'A five-star start to a dazzling new series . . . Smart, original and utterly masterful' Janice Hallett
'A pleasure from finish to start' Anthony Horowitz
'Fresh and exciting with both humour and thrills, Griffiths' first book in her new series knocks it out of the park' Shari Lapena
Ali Dawson and her cold case team investigate crimes so old, they're frozen - or so their inside joke goes. Most people don't know that they travel back in time to complete their research.
The latest assignment sees Ali venture back farther than they have dared before: to 1850s London in order to clear the name of Cain Templeton, the eccentric great-grandfather of MP Isaac Templeton. Rumour has it that Cain was part of a sinister group called The Collectors; to become a member, you had to kill a woman...
Fearing for her safety in the middle of a freezing Victorian winter, Ali finds herself stuck in time, unable to make her way back to her life, her beloved colleagues, and her son, Finn, who suddenly finds himself in legal trouble in the present day.
Could the two cases be connected?
Get ready for an original, transportive and characterful new crime novel from no. 1 bestselling author Elly Griffiths. Perfect for those missing the Dr Ruth Galloway series and for any crime and historical fiction fans.©2025 Elly Griffiths (P)2025 Quercus Editions Limited

Quite different and very enjoyable.
Another fantastic book from Ely Griffiths. I got hooked on her Ruth Galloway series and really enjoyed Harbinder Kaur but The Frozen People is quite different and a fantastic read you should definitely try it I’m looking forward to there being follow up stories.

Another fabulous story from Elly Griffiths
I don't usually like fiction to do with time travel but this is so well done. Ellie griffiths come do no wrong. neither did the narrator!

Certainly a different take on a detective story.
Quite liked the story, although the time travelling might get some getting used to of this to be a series.
On the whole the book was well written and the characters were certainly interesting. Did get a bit confused on which character was in which time zone.
If another book on the subject is written I'd certainly give it a go.
The narrator was very good.

Loved this
Refreshing idea, and actually really normal and not a sci fi (even though I guess time travel is!) written with the authors usual flair for relatable characters

A fabulous start to a new series!
I've read all Elly Griffiths books, and this was somewhat of a departure into a science fiction and crime drama! I loved it. Any fans of Elly Griffiths will enjoy the familiar style, and if like me they also love Jodi Taylor this will be a perfect addition to the Audible library...I'm looking forward to the next one!

A fallible yet very likeable lead character
Characters and the storyline. I also learned quite a lot about 19th Century daily life.

Great narration, original storyline
As a fan of Elly Griffiths, I was wondering why a another detective was being created, within the first chapters the reason became clear.Great story with enough loose ends to hopefully signal that this will become a new series.
