About this listen

SOME MURDERS CAN'T BE SOLVED IN JUST ONE LIFETIME.

'A five-star start to a dazzling new series . . . Smart, original and utterly masterful' Janice Hallett

'A pleasure from finish to start' Anthony Horowitz

'Fresh and exciting with both humour and thrills, Griffiths' first book in her new series knocks it out of the park' Shari Lapena

Ali Dawson and her cold case team investigate crimes so old, they're frozen - or so their inside joke goes. Most people don't know that they travel back in time to complete their research.

The latest assignment sees Ali venture back farther than they have dared before: to 1850s London in order to clear the name of Cain Templeton, the eccentric great-grandfather of MP Isaac Templeton. Rumour has it that Cain was part of a sinister group called The Collectors; to become a member, you had to kill a woman...

Fearing for her safety in the middle of a freezing Victorian winter, Ali finds herself stuck in time, unable to make her way back to her life, her beloved colleagues, and her son, Finn, who suddenly finds himself in legal trouble in the present day.

Could the two cases be connected?

I don't usually like fiction to do with time travel but this is so well done. Ellie griffiths come do no wrong. neither did the narrator!

Another fabulous story from Elly Griffiths

Another fantastic book from Ely Griffiths. I got hooked on her Ruth Galloway series and really enjoyed Harbinder Kaur but The Frozen People is quite different and a fantastic read you should definitely try it I’m looking forward to there being follow up stories.

The storyline it was beautifully read

Quite liked the story, although the time travelling might get some getting used to of this to be a series.

On the whole the book was well written and the characters were certainly interesting. Did get a bit confused on which character was in which time zone.

If another book on the subject is written I'd certainly give it a go.

The narrator was very good.

Certainly a different take on a detective story.

This was a fantastic book with a time travelling detective. It still had a good twist that I didn’t guess. Interesting new characters and told in the present tense - vibes and immediate. I would recommend it to anyone who likes good detective stories.

Great New Series for Elly Griffiths!

The history behind police drama which is unusual for author's former novels that I've read before.

very original storyline

Very engaging storyline with characters you can believe in and warm to. A plot that engages without becoming overly complicated makes for an entertaining read.

Superb work combining modern policing methods with Victorian drama and science fiction.
